I have a BA (with honors) from the University of Iowa (also double majored in Linguistics). I also have a Web Development Professional Certificate from Minneapolis Community and Technical College. I have been developing apps for the iOS platform since 2009. I have also worked on native Android apps, and I have worked on and created several cross-platform hybrid apps using Apache Cordova (or Phonegap) as well as custom hybrid solutions. I am resourceful and self-motivated when finding applicable solutions to programming problems (it's like a fun puzzle...). In the past I always focused on Apple platforms and was an expert on the now antiquated Macintosh Toolbox of the 1990's. I used C/C++ on these old generation Macs and on UNIX boxes while studying computer science (we also used early Java on the workstations). I still have a sweet spot for native objective-c development on iOS. Recent projects have included custom Cordova / Phonegap plugins, applications which make use of bluetooth iBeacons (as well as Gimbal BLE beacons), and in the last year I have worked extensively with Location Services including GPS functionality and Geofences. In the early days of iOS development I worked a lot with audio processing and muti-touch interactions. I never really set out with the intent to become a project manager, but I communicate well and it seems my role in many gigs recently tends to creep in that direction.
Specialized in human interface design, backend development and iOS app development. Human Interface Design ---- Keen on creating easy to use interface, have been practicing in this area for many years, was in charge of app design in quite a few projects. It's a habit for me to think about "user experiences" -- whether playing with various apps or using an ATM machine. Website Backend ---- From development to deployment, specialized in Django framework. Stacks include database, "Unix-like" sys admin and well-written Django helper libraries such as South, Tastypie, etc. Also have experiences on GAE, AWS, etc. iOS App Development ---- Not a fresh iOS programmer, started writing programs for the Mac platform when Mac OS X was merely 10.1 and Xcode was Project Builder. Workflow ---- For iOS app development, mockups will be built using tools like Balsamiq, to settle on an overall tone. And then, milestones will be set. Services like github is recommended, to make the code management and cooperation easy. Misc ---- - A Mac box is my major "workstation", testing devices include iPhone and iPad. - Projects list in "portfolio" are all my own stuff. For other projects, I would need client permissions of public listing. Please check my job history or ask.

I’m writer and editor, living in the San Francisco Bay area. My 11 years at the San Francisco Business Times made me a fast, accurate writer on many subjects, from starting a small business to complex finance reporting. I was also the newspaper's copy editor for many years. My work includes many years as a digital content producer and web editor, with a focus on financial reporting, breaking news and small business coverage. Working with writers from veteran reporters down to raw interns has given me the ability to learn to polish good writing and overhaul poor writing. My fluency in the AP Stylebook and Chicago Manual of Style makes me an excellent proofreader able to take even the rawest of copy and bring it in to compliance. I am looking for writing, proofing and editing jobs on any subject.

I have many years of experience as a corporate marketing manager for mid-sized companies and as a consultant. I provide a variety of marketing and management functions. This could be anything from working with senior management to develop and implement a strategic marketing plan, sourcing external service providers, project management, website development, content writing and collateral development, training of in-house marketing personnel. I understand the challenges faced by businesses with little or no dedicated internal marketing staff. Because I am fully conversant and hands-on with a variety of marketing tasks I am able to provide a broad range of services that typically are not found in a single provider. This saves my clients time and money and leads greater cohesiveness overall. Industrial distributors, manufacturers, business technology providers and others, value my depth of knowledge and my ability to establish or streamline marketing department processes for greater efficiencies. I have excellent project management skills which means that a project will meet your expectations in terms of quality of finished materials and delivery dates. I use data and analytics to balance the 'art' of marketing with science. My skills have been instrumental for improving returns on clients' investment of marketing dollars. I also have experience in the preparation of business plans for start-up, expansion, and immigrant investors.
