I have a UK university PhD, in Artificial Intelligence, and the business management skills to match, together With 15 years of Delphi, C++, Java, SQL, and Object-oriented analysis and design experience. I specialise in development including protocol specification, thread management, distributed communication and database transaction management. I have retro-fitted software in tasks ranging from installing improved modules to sophisticated Artificial Intelligence sub-systems. I can provide the often essential empathy with the contract holders, and the pragmatics to satisfy the demands of management. I have 20 years of competency in the software industry, and have a proven track record that will guarantee the successful realisation of your system requirements. I have designed and implemented systems used by multi-billion turnover corporations around the world, saving millions of pounds savings per year. My scope in system design and development ranges from individual utilities and embedded operating systems, through to large-scale corporation-wide distributed architectures. I am also able to provide a code debugging and fixing service, either onsite or online. I can give workshops and can facilitate training of new software developers, both in-house and online. I have managed my own team and maintained their skills matrices, ensuring training has been current. I have defined and managed new product releases and have written instruction manuals for new and "super" users at the customer end of the project.
Seeking opportunities in Perl oriented (Catalyst DBIC preferred) application development, shell and perl scripting, and BSD/Linux administration projects - to build sites and setup servers for your business or pleasure. In my mind, LAMP more often reads as LASP - Linux, Apache, (any|no)SQL, Perl - of course, with Catalyst, Template Toolkit and DBIx::Class/KiokuDB in pair with some RCS (git is preferred, but subversion, mercurial and others also possible). And of course, all can be integrated with AJAX libraries such as jQuery, Prototype, MooTools and other to create Web2.0 apptications.Great knowledge of regular expressions (regexp). Have real experience with MySql, Postgres, Oracle, CouchDB, LDAP, also worked with CPanel, Plesk and Ensim. And of course, have experience with Apache, SMTP (exim, postfix, sendmail), IMAP/POP (Cyrus, UW, Dovecot), firewalls (bsd/ipfw and linux/iptables), Samba and misc ftp and proxy solutions.I can work well as alone and as a team member.
I started my career as C++ developer, then I moved to Visual Basic and SQL, but when things are getting serious you start to use a real database, so I learn PL/SQL and from there I moved to Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence. Moving abroad was only the next natural step in my search for more interesting and challenging projects. I admit it, a girlfriend was a good reason too. I think I passed the test, if I still have no intention to come back to mamma. When I joined MicroStrategy I knew only that I enjoyed my time with the rudimentary BI tool I was using, I knew something more was out there. With my Oracle and programming background I started working on ETL and Data Modelling projects, but you don't do BI if you don't understand your customer's business. Finally a way to combine my job and my communication degree. In the last four year I have be travelling around the world working in different environments and having my part of fun doing it, and I was lucky enough to do it adding new experiences and skills to my curriculum. And a wife as well. And now? now I'm looking for the next step in my life.
