HTML / CSS DEVELOPER ROLE: I taught myself HTML and CSS when I was 14 years old and have been enthusiastic about it ever since. About a year ago I started teaching myself the design aspect of web development as well, but found that I much preferred CSS based designs, as my skills lie mainly in the coding side as opposed to the design side. I taught myself how to code by breaking down the templates I used on websites such as neopets.com and forums. From this I taught myself how to structure HTML, and specifically how to manipulate CSS. I then expanded my knowledge to understand CSS3 and DHTML. I intend to continue expanding this knowledge and learn java soon, but first I hope to reach a more advanced level of HTML and CSS, and to create a portfolio. I admit that I may only be at a basic level, but I am always looking to learn and improve. When a job presents itself to me, I will sink as much time as I can into it, always possessing the determination to make it perfect. CREATIVE WRITING / EDITING ROLE: I have always been passionate about creative writing, particularly short stories and articles. Whilst in education I excelled at literature and was one of the top of my class for the entirety of my time at school. Writing has been a past time of mine since I was a child and it has taken many forms - stories, poems, lyrics, articles. I am very fluent with the English language and have had a lot of practice (mainly through school work, and helping my friends with theirs) with proof reading, checking for grammatical mistakes and other errors. In my last year of education, I completed a 6000 word dissertation independently, which I received a grade A for. In my current job, one of my roles is to write articles for our webpage as a way of conveying information and advertising aspects of our services in a fun, easy to read way. Each article is designed to appeal to different audiences and every week the topic is different, therefore I have learned how to adapt my writing style as appropriate. My role also includes writing both advertising emails and newsletters for our clients.
