As a French native state-employed English Teacher for quite a number of years, I can provide accurate translations from English into standard French from FRANCE, and the other way round. I worked for "Gengo.com" for a year only, but unlike them, so far, I can translate into genuine UK English all types of documents at the rate of $0.06/word, that can be as low as $0.04 for high volumes starting from 3,000 words ( and $0.08/word for technical and legal translation jobs), and my test- results speak for themselves. Given my background, I can deliver truly academic, as well as audience-oriented translations. However, I now refuse to translate content for e-commerce sites selling illegal products in FRANCE, as the shoppers would have problems with the French customs, or even worse, with the police. I also refuse to proofread what appears to be plain machine-translation or clearly post-edited machine translation jobs, from either other contractors (you should just ask for a refund!) or customers. Fair enough, isn't it? Now, please have a look at my portfolio, and you will see what I mean! Finally, I now have experience in simultaneous 3-way translation over the phone (see my profile).
My facility with words derives from a love of literature and a background in French, teaching English, and editing. Over the past 7 years, I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of texts, from academic papers to blogs to web content to novels, and various style guides, including AP, APA, MLA, and Chicago. Though my heart lies in fiction, I'm equally at home with non-fiction; my particular interest areas include sociology, anthropology, psychology, environmental issues, healthy living, nutrition, women's studies, feminist theory, queer theory, critical theory, and critical race theory. However, I welcome all types of texts. Let me help make your pen indeed mightier than the sword, whether it is simply proofreading for small errors or copy editing/line editing to improve structure, flow, word choice, clarity, coherence, and the like. With me, your texts and documents are in good hands.

I hope you are wondering what kind of service and quality you will actually be receiving! The bid prices I propose are always based upon the value of the work performed. Early in 2014 I left a magazine staff position to pursue freelance writing and editing full-time. I love to explain things, which I've been doing professionally for 25 years, using words, pictures and drawings. In addition, I am a registered Professional Engineer. My experience includes design and construction, with both field and office assignments, as well as writing and editing numerous articles. I also developed the curriculum for an introductory class on Programmable Logic Controllers, subsequently revising it several times, and have taught that class on a continuing basis since 1997.
ABOUT ME: I graduated from Thammasat University with a bachelor's degree in French and English. While studying at the university, I was awarded a one-year scholarship from the French government to be an exchange student at the Center for Applied Linguistics at Franche-Comte University in Besancon, France, where I earned a diploma in French Studies.
