I’ve been a writer my entire life, and nearly all of my education has been to further that goal. Though I began writing poetry as a child, as a student I branched out to all types of creative and expository writing: short stories, research papers, memos, even translations from German and Swedish into English. As an exchange student in high school, I translated and edited shipping documents for the Bremen Harbor Authority. At Stanford, I dove wholeheartedly into English literature, learning about the history of literature as well as a wealth of practical and artistic applications for language. Over the past couple of years, I have explored other fields: I took a computer science course at Stanford and learned to program in Java, I worked for four months in a Swedish bank and found myself thriving in a multicultural office environment. I find my ability to succeed in group projects strongly informed by my years in the humanities; I have a gift for seeing into the heart of a situation, for helping people clarify and understand their own stories.
