Jeff Anvinson, owner/operator of JLA Music, has over thirty-five years of very broad experience in the music field, including performing, arranging, composing, conducting, music engraving, music transcribing, recording, teaching, producing audio and video recordings, writing and music criticism, and more. He has performed hundreds of times in the US, China, and Canada in a wide variety of settings, including solo and chamber music, as a soloist with orchestras, wind ensembles, and choirs, and with music groups that perform classical, jazz, pop, rock, country, bluegrass, musical theater, and other genres. His recordings and videos are available on iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, YouTube, and elsewhere. Some of the highlights from his career include performing with a violin/guitar duo in Shanghai, Nanchang, New York City, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis, as a member of a jazz group invited to perform at the Minot Integrity Jazz Festival, and providing background music for events attended by governors and college presidents. He has created hundreds of arrangements and many compositions for a wide range of instrumental combinations, including chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, solos, duos, trios, and others. He has published more than twenty articles in Soundboard, Ezine, The Grand Forks Herald, and The North Dakota Music Educator. After study at three universities, he earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in music and a certificate in management and supervision. He studied orchestration with Pulitzer-prize-winning composer Dominic Argento and performed in several master classes, including one led by multi-Grammy-Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin. He has taught at universities, public schools, community education programs, commercial music stores, and in private practice. For over 35 years he has performed for weddings, conventions, inaugurations, art shows, parties, anniversaries, and other special events of all kinds. He creates high quality music editions of the guitar music of Brazilian composer Ernst Mahle, and distributes and promotes Mahle's music on www.emahle.com. Having discovered the intrigue of electronics with a childhood friend, he later studied electronics. He lives in Grand Forks, ND, where he operates his business, JLA Music.
