  • Harvard MBA Engineer. The shortest path between Idea and Product.

I analyze and structure ideas. I am currently accepting projects/ jobs in two categories: A. Turn an idea or business plan into an App or a Website. I will analyze the idea in terms of User value and attrition and transform it into an elegant technical specification. I have done a few dozens of these. B. Turn your path into a job or MBA application. I will study your profile and help you organize your achievements into a crisp image that is easy to understand by anyone grading you. I have helped perhaps over a hundred people get into MBAs. ### A. Turn an idea or business plan into an App or a Website I can pick your ideas and transform them into an elegant, expandable and lean specification. I will guide you through architecture principles, challenge your ideas and make sure your goals are doable, easy to understand and that a freelancer can execute what you need without setbacks. I can also estimate the cost of the project and even help you pick the best freelance for your project. What experience do I bring? 1. On the business side, I am an Harvard MBA and entrepreneur and a former consultant at McKinsey. I have worked or had big exposure to Banking, Telco, Travel, State, Utilities, Health & Pharma. I have overseen or executed a handful of Business Plans, some which failed, others which succeeded, everything from a small booking app to a complete new Bank. 2. On the technical side, I am a Computer Science / Electrical Engineer and have done research in Autonomous Vehicles and Vision. I have coded long enough to know how to estimate application complexity and to know how to properly structure one. Also: - Generally, a good specification has 3 things: scope, architecture and details. Scope is what you want to do and where it will be used. The architecture is the most important thing and is the logic behind how your application or website will work. It matters a lot that this is done right, and it's where i spend most of my time. If you fail to properly specify your project, the code will be messy and every time you need an update, things will have to be redone. Details are mock-ups and other preferences, which is usually what people give a freelancer. - I prefer elegance and ubiquity over performance: when you're starting, you need your project to be structured and lean. - I am straight to the point: If something is wrong, I will tell you so. - I am European and fluent, in case you want to know. Averages. For most projects: - it takes me 1 hour to properly define a Scope, and between 1 and 2 days to get the Architecture settled. - i will save you at least a few weeks of unnecessary iterations and drawings and discussions with your freelancer. - your first app will look like it was the second. - you get to understand how stuff really works. B. I can also help you with other documents, like reviewing your MBA application.  less

In December of 2009, I started my own User Experience Consulting firm working with educational, insurance, small business eCommerce, and start-up industries. I am an User Experience Designer in which I combine research and design skills together to understand the user needs and produce concepts/solutions/designs that people want to use. This requires a focus on human behaviours, psychology and understanding why people do what they do. It’s all the soft squishy, creative stuff on the right-side of the brain. Most UXers can tell you what it should do and why it should do it, but can’t actually build something that works.(from Ben Melbourne blog) It really does not matter how extensive my portfolio is or what technologies i use, if we do not target the root motivations behind your project, and place them in an open format in which we can both collaborate and establish a shared understanding, then your project may succeed in the beginning BUT fail in the end. Some questions to think about before we start our conversation. What are my initial assumption about how i think this company can help me? Which of these are most and least important for them to clarify? Do i have a structured plan? OR Non-specifics around an idea? http://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesnutter  less

Summary  Overall nine years of experience working on web based applications' planning, management, analysis and design. I have specialized working experience of business analysis and possess as well as did requirements gathering and specification, functional specification, design, user training and UAT as Business Analyst. I also have proven analytical, problem solving and communication skills and can give best output working independently. As a Project Manager I have worked on Agile Scrum using JIRA with GreenHopper plugin.  As a Business Analyst, I am specialized in HR, Health (Hospital Management System (Pakistan and US domain specially VistA)), MIS of Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan and Starlet Shoes (Planning, Estimation/Costing, Production, Procurement, Inventory/Store, Point of Sale, HR, Reports and Application Security), Content Management System and (Court) Case Management System, Real Estate and Email Marketing domains and have reasonable grip over them. In Health domain; major areas analyzed, implemented and user trained were CPT, In/Out Patient, Wards (General, Paeds, ICU and CCU), Patient, Pharmacy, Billing, HR, Clinics and Scheduling, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Surgery, Eye, Dentistry, Gynaecology, Nursing and Supplies, Medical Record, Zakat/Donation, Administration & Security, Website and Instrument Sterilization Management. Achievements  Gap Analysis and Functional Specification documentation of Majlis-e-Shoora Pakistan project. I was total responsible for requirement analysis for Senate of Pakistan and documented FS for both National Assembly and Senate.  As a Business Analyst another achievement was to implement Health Management Information System main modules for Maroof International Hospital Islamabad, Pakistan. Major areas I was responsible to were Human Resource, CPT, Radiology, Clinics and Scheduling, Nursing and Supplies, Medical Record and Administration and Security Management.  Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology implementation was another big challenge for me to bring UAT as well as train users for different modules. I was responsible for Human Resource, Billing, Zakat/Donation, CPT, Radiology, Clinics and Scheduling, In/Out Patient Registration, Wards (General, Peads, ICU and CCU), Pharmacy, Nursing and Supplies, Medical Record, Instrument Sterilization, Administration and Security and Website Management modules and brought UAT for many of the above mentioned modules successfully.  As a self-employed Consultant and Manager; Agile-Scrum was there to welcome me with challenges and hard work. Team was supposed to use JIRA and I was Scrum Master. I also wrote (and writing) many successful proposals and projects were awarded to us. Functional Specification, User Manuals, Website Content and Minutes of Meeting are also documented for many projects and meetings.  Next challenge was waiting for me in KABOT Systems as I had to document user manuals for the KABOT's Computerized Patient Record System, Practice Management System and Billing Management System. I worked on my own style of research (as it was US domain) and hard work and also borrowed some assistance from some of my colleagues. I completed the manuals in minimum time and make them up to date with application in terms of features and functionality. KABOT's HER base was VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture) and it was my achievement to grasp many of its processes and standards.  Project Coordination; though it was my first chance to indulge myself in such job where many stake holders have to be coordinated and communicated to keep them on the same page but I successfully achieved the confidence of my managers. My major responsibilities as project coordinator were to follow up between teams for tasks priority and timely delivery for software products and I did it very well.  As a System Analyst; I documented many successful proposals and projects were awarded to us. Functional Specification (POS, Accounting System, and Classifieds), User Manuals, Website Content and Minutes of Meeting are also documented for many projects and meetings. I am also assuring product/project quality and managing Requirements Traceability Matrix and User Acceptance Testing.  less
