I would like to work on projects such as Japanese-English translation, writing critiques/reviews of films with illustration, and art projects that allow me to express myself. I have NO previous experiences in translation and it is because I have never been given the opportunity before. I believe the problem with translation industry is that you always need to submit your previous works and prove how many projects you have done. If you are never given a chance, you cannot prove to the world what you are capable of. I was born in Japan and raised in Japan, but I chose to go to the US and Australia in highschool so I struggled through cultural experiences and became a bilingual. I have always put myself in customer service jobs because I truly enjoy face to face communication. I have been a server, a receptionist, and an English instructor. One of the aspects that fascinates me and motivates me is finding out needs and demands of the customers/clients and providing them services that exceed their expectation. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed my prevoius work experiences, I would like to keep challenging myself in new fields. I would like to start working online as a translator and an English tutor. I am very responsible and hard working. My weakness is that I sometimes push myself too hard and sacrifice hours to reach for perfection and to get my own satisfaction. I am willing to learn. I look forward to working with other highly skilled and talented individuals.

I have a passion for all forms of writing, and I've mastered the art of editing as well. I enjoy manipulating stories, essays, articles, screenplays, poetry, and other documents to not only fit grammar rules, but also continuity and style. The bulk of my experience as a writer and editor was acquired while I attended the University of California in Riverside. I attended many creative writing workshop classes, earning a reputation with my professors for my skills, including the 2012 poet laureate of California, Juan Felipe Herrera. While my formal work experience may not be in writing or editing, I have also gained experience in transcription, reception, data entry, customer service, and voice over acting.
Over the last fifteen years, I have amassed a wide range of experience including film and photography archiving, stock footage / photo data editing, administrative and customer service. I have worked in various aspects of photography and film, including considerable work in prominent film and video archives and stock footage agencies. I also have extensive experience in administrative and customer support, including as Executive Assistant for the Senior Art Director of Chihuly Studio, as well as having served as a receptionist and retail sales associate. I am an efficient and thorough worker, who will work hard to complete any project.
Over a long career as an educator and more recently as an actor, I have honed skills that will allow me to support companies and individuals in a range of communication projects. I have produced a breadth of academic writing, including reports, grant proposals, and position papers. I have written original articles, essays, and reviews, using documented research from online and traditional print sources. Finally, I have edited not only my own work but that of others and have proofread thousands of student papers.
I graduated from Sewanee: the University of the South, atop the beautiful Cumberland Plateau in southern Tennessee, completing a liberal arts education, which nurtured my creative spirit and developed my strong work ethic. This mountaintop is the home of the distinguished literary journal, The Sewanee Review, and was my home while I acquired a proper appreciation for language and literature. During my time at Sewanee I excelled in English courses, earning a major in the subject, with minors in Philosophy and German. I immediately was fascinated by how a person's language--how he or she communicates with the world--informs the nature of that person's perceived reality. Most of my writing was concerned with that topic. While taking those courses I realized that a writing/editing career would be fulfilling. So naturally, when I noticed an advertisement online concerning a freelance editing opportunity, I felt compelled to see where the ad would take me. This online resource is an ideal way to gain experience and propel myself into my desired field. Because I've been in college the past four years my work experience is minimal, I'll admit; but rest assured, I am highly motivated to develop and perfect new skills. I am confident that I can adapt to any writing/editing job's expectations, and succeed.
I am a graduate of Columbia College Chicago. My experience as a writer comes from having written two reviews on two different films for a local newspaper company called Streetwise Newspaper. I am currently in the process of publishing a science-fiction novel. It will be my first published novel.
I am looking for opportunities to utilize my skills in Internet research and data entry. Being a computer technician requires me to be precise and accurate when handling hardware and software assembly/servicing/troubleshooting which in turn helps me to be attentive to details, work with less supervision, deliver quality work, persevere and be honest.
As a independent filmmaker, writer and freelancer, I have had the pleasure of pursuing a number of colorful and exciting careers in the last few years. I was an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing, and I graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico in 2006. I have published articles and short stories both online and in small publications over the years, and I have also written two feature films that have been purchased by independent production companies. After working for many years as a long term substitute teacher and writing on the side, I began to pursue a career in the film and television industry. I have worked on a number of features as both an assistant director and a producer and have also worked as a production assistant and coordinator on projects that have aired on television. My previous duties have included creating and providing schedules for both crew and cast, compiling and disturbing call sheets, on the spot rescheduling, contacting and maintaining a positive relationship with locations, keeping the production schedule on track and making sure both the cast and crew are functioning as a team. Paired with my experience as a substitute teacher, as well as background experience in police dispatching and retail management, I have developed a strong ability to meet deadlines quickly and efficiently and can communicate goals and ideas successfully both verbally and through the written word. I am capable of setting, maintaining and achieving realistic goals independently and while working with a team, while still keeping the standards of the workplace at a high level that reflects an outgoing and optimistic spirit. As someone familiar with customer service, I also value the time and importance of clients, guests, and talent and I work with and strive to help them feel they are receiving the service or assistance they deserve. Throughout my experience in the workforce, I have continually found time to continue to write and hone my skills in writing. I am also proficient in computer use, Windows programs, the internet and social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and others. I hope that my clients here will find my skills and spirit to be a desired asset to their projects. I look forward to hopefully working with you.
