I am an autonomous, results-oriented, high-energy, hands-on professional, with a strong history of accomplishments and proven track record of success in various professions and academic professions. Most of my extensive experience is in the retail and food service industry, as an assistant researcher at the University of Illinois at Chicago and as a Paralegal/Public Notary at an Established Workers Compensation and Personal Injury law firm in the Loop of Downtown Chicago. While working at the law firm I was responsible for compiling, obtaining and summarizing medical records in order to draft Chronologies/ Abstracts for hearings presented before the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission (I.W.C.C.). In addition, I was responsible for drafting and filing subpoenas, motions, letters of demand and settlement contracts and many other legal documents. In addition to this I was also responsible for case management of clients in all aspects form intake to settlement. I would either sign up new clients via phone or in person while having a duty to ensure correct judgment regarding compensability of claims, case evaluation, file set up, trial dates and meeting all attorney(s) deadlines. Assisting attorney(s) in corresponding and maintaining relationships with medical service providers, insurance adjustors, clients opposing counsel and many others via mail, e-mail, facsimile and telephone. While attending the University Of Illinois at Chicago I partook in two research projects. One was a research paper that was reviewed and approved by UIC’s board of criminology and presented during the lecture of a visiting Criminologist. The paper earned me the honor to graduate with High Departmental Distinction, which was titled THE POLICY IMPLICATIONS OF THE WAR ON DRUGS. The other research was conducted under the supervision of the Department Head, Dr. Amie Schuck. The research focused on finding a causal link between alcohol and violence in certain areas in the city of Chicago. Received IRB certification and was responsible for gathering initial data and canvasing initial research areas. I have strong written and verbal communication skills combined with enthusiasm for collaborating and learning. I love to thrive in a challenging culture and am eager to apply intuitive understanding, conceptual knowledge and various other skills attained through my personal experience. I believe that team work will always make the dream work and that empathy and great attitude will produce great outcomes. Presently, I am wrapping up the Admissions process for Law School to be attending in the fall of 2015. I love doing any and all kinds of work that present a challenge or can provide me with knowledge or the experience.
