My Experience began on 2003 by providing Technical Support for Microsoft's Internet Service (MSN). It was a great jump start to my technical career by providing high quality technical support and great customer service to U.S. Customers. In 2005 I had the opportunity to begin working for Dell Computer's - Technical Support. I've been an Resolution Specialist from 2005 up to June 2012 managing the technical aspect of the teams and providing support to the agents that take calls. I am CompTIA A+ Certified - Remote Support Technician (COMP001006357057). Developed various Web-based Tools utilized by Dell Technicians for the departments I've worked on. My duties as a Resolution Specialists range from Technical Knowledge on the Software and Hardware end. Troubleshooting know-how, Knowledge on dispatching & shipping parts through FedEx, USPS, Unisys, Bantec & Qualexserv, Call auditing & quality assurance, Trained on irate caller deescalation process. An experience I think that has great value is being Manager on Duty on the department's (SMB - Small & Medium Business) floor. Which meant that my duty was to manage all the calls coming in to our group and make sure the process would meet all the goals set by Dell's Global CCO (Call Forecast Dept.). This were I learned the call center aspect of the job such as metrics like AHT (Average Handle Time), ORR (Offer Run Rate), Measuring Inbound calls vs Intervals. Staffing vs Breaks & Lunches. From June up to know I have been working on the Process Engineering department as a Process analyst providing various reports on Call Handling, Staffing, RDR (Repeat Dispatch Rate) Metric. Have Advanced Excel & Intermediate MS Access skills. On the relationship & teamwork side of my work experience. I’ve been able to succeed with my teams by establishing great relationships with my teammates and this way, drive to influence them in a positive way, so they can visualize a goal in a manner they can reach and exceed the business’s expectations. My main focus has been to learn as much of the business and understand the best way at approaching the role I’ve had the opportunity of undertaking. Also, I’ve taken the task at analyzing and determine the most efficient path to reach the goals on the teams I have been a part of, and have definitely been successful at making the teams reach top spots in group rankings.
My goal is to be able to apply my knowledge and learn more in the growing business of technologies. I’ve been in an IT related job for almost 7 years and counting. For my first 2 years, I was the IT in-charge of a private company that monitors the company’s computer hardware and software assets. I am now currently employed to a call center company as a technical support engr. We are assisting customers and clients in troubleshooting internet access and networking issues. I am trying to explore new ways to expand my learning and to be able to earn extra income.
My name is Alexis and I am currently based in Cyprus. I have recently completed a PhD degree in the field of Information Technology at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. My area of specialisation is Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The PhD thesis investigated the usability and user experience of security and privacy designs and features for on-line social networks. My Master degree was also in the area of HCI. The dissertation investigated the impact of a culture dimension in the design of websites, with specific attention to the design of the South African e-Government portal. For my undergraduate degree I completed a range of subjects, primarily within the fields of networking, software development and databases. Additionally, I completed 5 usability courses at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland during the course of my PhD. I also held the position of a usability researcher in a project team while there. This was a practical course that included concept development and evaluation, concept validation sessions with users and the analysis of new products and services for a start-up Information Technology company in Finland. In total I have accumulated 5 years of research experience in the field of HCI. The outcome of this research is 7 published conference papers and 1 published journal article. I am fluent in both English and Greek and am a proficient communicator from my experiences of presenting at conferences and being a lecturer. I have a real passion for research and achieve the required objectives within the specified deadlines. In terms of lecturing, I am a CCNA certified instructor and have also lectured the subjects: Windows Server 2008, Project Management and Information Systems Management. My future plans involve furthering my academic experience and research, as well as gaining the relevant experience in industry, which I feel is critical. I am therefore looking for opportunities in the area of UI design and user experience so that I can apply my knowledge in real industry projects. This will allow me to gain more experience in the field from an industry perspective and thus start creating my own work portfolio. Usability and user experience is a practice that is hardly considered during the development life-cycle in the majority of software houses in Cyprus, making it difficult to gain the relevant experience. I am a self-motivated, goal-orientated, diligent individual, committed to achieving high standards of competence and professionalism in whatever I do. I believe that I have the abilities to successfully complete the job that I am hired to do. Other jobs that I am interested in applying for are in the categories Writing and Translation, Administrative Support, Sales and Marketing and Business Services.
