I have worked more than 10 years as an art director and graphic designer for a design company that specializes in books and magazines with a particular focus on sports magazines. I've logged thousands of hours doing everything related to the editorial design process including art direction of whole books, consulting with clients, building templates, creating graphic elements and quality assurance. I've worked on a variety of different subjects and media with different timelines and offered customized layouts for each client to meet their purposes and standards. As a team player, I have diligently supported coworkers, vendors, and customer to meet client goals, and I also have a proven record of independently planning and executing projects when that’s what the client needs.
Portfolio Website: www.charliepiazza.com Designs are like puzzles. Every design starts out as pieces of information, whether it’s a style guide, specific visuals or overall feel, that ultimately need to work cohesively to bring an idea to life. I have always enjoyed taking those pieces and finding the best way to translate someones needs into a physical experience. My goal is to convert your vision into a successful and appropriate design. After getting my degree at Syracuse University, I started as associate art director at Next Magazine in New York City. Within a couple years, I was promoted to art director where I was responsible for a complete rebranding. I spearheaded a new logo design as well as a complete redesign of the publication from cover to cover. That experience allowed me to take my talent to Condé Nast as a production designer. Throughout this process, my freelance clients became too important to me and I chose to devote all my time to them. Quality design is the difference between having your message be noise and clutter or have it break through. It’s about authenticity and understanding how all those pieces interact to create something meaningful and memorable. Let’s bring your vision to life…together!

Originally coming from the professional world of book publishing, I worked for some years in journalism, before to eventually create my own graphic design and communication business. During those last years, I've had some significant and rewarding experiences, including three political campaigns for french deputee elections (tiring, very tiring, but it's a fascinating job ... following the candidate step by step, keeping an eye on the press, creating his posters and flyers, proofreading and factchecking his texts ... for the duration of the campaign, it's a 24/7 work, and a quite rich in adrenaline one), a lot of logos and style guides (mainly for restaurants and winegrowers ... it's France, after all!) and some book publishing (I keep a particular taste for book layout). Although based in southern France, I occasionnaly work for Israelian or Russian clients.
