Pez Zarifian is a Systems Engineer in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a branch of NASA in Pasadena, specializing in robotic exploration of the Solar System. Prior to joining JPL, Pez held a part-time position at University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute (USC-ISI) where he played an active role in the design, hands-on manufacturing, and management of a number of aerospace engineering-related projects. Pez has been a part of JPL's concurrent engineering team, Team X, from 2009 until present. Since then, he has been involved with early design and architecture of a number of interplanetary exploration concepts as well as contributed to hardware and ground software development of a number of JPL's small flight projects. Pez has a passion for analyzing datasets and data-driven project management and decision making. Pez is proficient in MATLAB and Excel/VBA as well as a variety of other tools and languages including SolidWorks, LabView, C, Python, and XHTML. Embedded systems are of strategic importance in modern economics. This area offers many opportunities to innovate, create and design the inexistent.
