Hi, I'm Jon Simpson - thank you for visiting my profile. I am a multi-media artist and producer that specializes in creating across a broad range of visual, audio and conceptual contexts. Since earliest memory I have been very diversely creative and I am now utilizing a wide array of professional design tools that channel that ever-expanding experience within the digital realm. As a "generalist" artist I seek to master and stay current with each software tool, not merely to maintain cutting edge capability, but also to maximize and expand the creative options available to myself and my clients. My primary video/2D animation software is Adobe After Effects (5 years), which is now integrated with and partnering with Maxon's Cinema 4D, my 3D software. I am currently ranked in the top 20 out of more than 6,000 on the oDesk After Effects skills test, and in the top 2 percentile on the basic English skills test. For audio, I have been producing in Adobe Audition for over 10 years, everything from music composition (5 instruments across diverse genres, including full symphonic orchestration), to managing multi-language voice overs, world-class singers, genuine foley sound effects, podcasts, instructional courses, children's stories and more: http://www.reverbnation.com/AvalonStudios I also have more than 7 years of experience in Photoshop and Flash and over 3 years with Illustrator, Camtasia and Cinema 4D. Educationally, I have a Bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of North Florida with subsequently highly developed critical writing skills, able to help you with scripts, articles, copy, editing and much more. I am in the -5 GMT time zone but as I am willing to accommodate any time zone and schedule, my availability is very flexible and generous. Contract-wise, I enjoy doing various kinds of projects but I am also interested in developing long-term relationships in more specific contexts with individuals and organizations I resonate with. Please enjoy examples of my work in my oDesk portfolio, read client reviews, and feel free to contact me, even if you just have questions and want to explore possibilities. I look forward to the opportunity of creating with you! Jon

I've been in the web development field since 2002, when I started as a programmer/admin for a web hosting company. I've worked on a variety of web applications (generally php/MySQL based) ranging from ecommerce to in-house CMS to data mining/feed processing to integrating APIs and web services. I've worked with a number of PHP frameworks (Zend, CodeIgniter, CakePHP), and generally like working with a MVC design pattern. I've developed web applications from the ground up, as well as modified and added functionality to existing custom in-house systems, opensource applications, and commercial applications. I've worked with various APIs, including: Twilio, Twitter, Foursquare, Amazon, PayPal, Drop.io, Sunlight Labs, EmailYak, and others. I've written wrappers for APIs, as well as written APIs for outside integration into applications I've written. I am comfortable working with other developers and designers. In addition I've been asked to do code review and troubleshooting for projects where I had no active role. My profile on StackOverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/users/45531/tim-lytle) is a good sample of my ability to communicate the details of a development problem/solution. I'm also a Zend Certified Engineer (http://www.zend.com/store/education/certification/yellow-pages.php#show-ClientCandidateID=ZEND011439) with experience administering apache/mysql/php/etc on Linux (and a bit on Windows). Most of my oDesk clients are buyers who need high-level, conceptual requests to be understood and implemented, and the projects are ongoing long-term relationships.
As a professional graphic designer I have more than a decade experience in branding, identities, packaging, print, environmental graphics, publications, website design. I consider myself as a highly positive person capable to provide a mind-blowing designs with simple and bold approach. I have my experience gained from serving a wide variety of clients from all around the Europe and projects taken for some of Macedonian’s largest companies and government institutions. I'm focused on building long term relationships with my clients by meeting all their requirements and individual needs, and treating them as a partner in the process.
Providing useful and meaning service to customers with their projects; you have a small or big project, I have the knowledge to complete the assigned task or the skills to find the answer somewhere else, but the job will be done. Self managed and resourceful, able to manage a web development from design all the way to delivery and after sale customer support.
3D obsessive seeks work to make the screaming stop at night. Expansive experience, my primary passion and focus is pure modelling. I love a challenge, ask me to do something not done before, I dare you! I humbly consider myself an expert in 3DSmax w/Vray, Zbrush and Photoshop. I'm comfortable with many other software packages, but those aforementioned are my real strength. Seems I won the top 25 providers on Odesk again, in fact this month (dec) I came second to an Indonesian chap, who only charges $5ph... at that price he can keep first place I don't want it that bad. ;) Methodology: Whilst I am in your employ I like to stream my desktop so you can look over my shoulder and provide feedback at your leisure. I'm also happy to chat whilst I work, though I need both hands, so it needs to be via headset I'm afraid. Strong, clear, concise communication is absolutely paramount, and that works both ways. Dialogue is great, however summarising all discussion via email/chat is important so we may record an agreed course of action. I work a regular GMT working week, but can be called to my desk via txt, email or whatsap most of the time. Footnote: Top 3 lines that make me chortle... one or more bundled with every other project. "Once I get my funding I'll be able to pay you what you are worth" - Classic Catch-22. It sounds like you need my work to raise the money to pay me. I want to work, not gamble. "There's much more work on the horizon, if you're good I can keep you busy for years" - Classic pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You can never reach the horizon, so the analogy is quite accurate. with these words said I've received dazzling feedback, client was blown away, jaws were dropped.. yet the 'more work' never transpires. "You're rate seems a higher than others, can you do it for..." - Classic False economy. It may seem high compared to some, unless you consider that I could (and would) do something in one day that it would take someone else (probably a less scrupulous person) a month to do. My rate is based upon my 9 years of experience, top end rig, and the breadth of work I've done. Ultimately I charge for working at full tilt, nose to the grindstone. I don't eek out my hours to con you into paying more. Every minute I log I am proactively working. I don't bill to put the kettle on, or to relieve myself. If you feel I am working on something I wasn't asked to, or that I'm dragging my heels, I'll prove otherwise or refund those hours. Aside from being a decent honest way to work, I find this gets the job done quicker and is more lucrative for me, whilst also keeping my output high. I love what I do, I hope you will too. thanks, Sam
