I am primarily looking for ways to expand my freelance writing, editing and graphic design skills beyond my geographic area, as well as in building my professional portfolio. Please do not approach me with telemarketing, phone support, ebay posting or ghost writing projects at this time. All of my latest writing projects are posted on my personal blog and writer's portfolio: https://nipigonfreelancer.wordpress.com. Editing examples are available here and on request.
I have experience in writing and editing:
professional pieces, both online and in print.
Recently, I was primarily focused on writing and editing local newspaper and blog articles. These sometimes included my own photography or photo editing work that I did for clients. Many of my own articles were produced from in-person or phone interviews. The newspaper also accepted regular submissions from community groups. I edited some of that content and occasionally laid out or designed advertising for local business.
In the past, I have also created and maintained websites for local businesses, computer templates, newsletters, church bulletins, and multimedia promotional materials. I have also designed and implemented workshops on a variety of subjects, which have included instructional handouts and multimedia presentations, as well. I maintain my own wordpress blog and I am familiar with keywords and search engine optimization.
FIXED PRICE LIST
I prefer fixed rates to an hourly fee. This allows me more flexibility in my writing tools and environment.
I prefer fixed rates to hourly fees and my prices always need the 10% system fee to be added on top. My normal rate for editing short stories and fiction is $2 per page, for about 450 words. I charge $2 for every 100 words to edit articles. This may sometimes be flexible, however depending on the rate of errors and how much work there is available.
For larger or long-term projects, the best way to set it up, in my opinion, is to break the task up into individual milestones. We can set a reasonable price for the first installment, based on the word count, and when you are satisfied, we can move on to another milestone of approximately the same size. It also might help me to see what kind of suggestions you find most helpful, if I briefly looked at the corrected piece again, before finally moving on.
My normal rate for writing is $25 per page. An average sized article would be 50$. This may be somewhat variable depending on the amount additional work required, when it comes to research or interviews. For larger or long-term projects, I will charge $40 for the first two page document, as a test, and $50 for each additional one, acting as an additional milestone on the project. Articles that do not list my name or that I can not share a link to on my odesk profile, job applications and/or relevant social media sites, must be negotiated ahead of time for an additional fee.
