I’m very curious and passionate and these two qualities push me to work. Each company that I’ve worked in has taught me a lot of things that I’ve later used use in another jobs and in my private life.
I think that time goes by too fast and we don’t have as much time as we’d want to learn and discover new things. But I’ve always strived to make the most out of everything. With this attitude I started to study Journalism, to learn how communication works. This got me to work in two big companies: Catalunya Ràdio and El Periódico de Catalunya. I learned how the press works but I discovered that it wasn’t what I was looking for. I didn’t like that journalists don’t work as a team, each of them work separately and individually. Fortunately, in both jobs, I had mentors who taught me the most important things of the field. Thanks to them, I was able to start growing as a professional and I started developing my own style at work.
Unfortunately in the press they have to follow handbooks which limits them to write creatively. So my next step was to discover the private sector. My next job was at Pharmaceutical Association of Barcelona’s communication department where I worked and specialized in PR and corporate communication for the very fist time. I experimented a difficult moment in my career when I had to manage the pharmaceutical crisis communication in Barcelona of the worldwide outbreak of the H1N1 flu. That experience taught me how to work under pressure. Every time I find myself under stress, I remember what I went through with the H1N1 flu and it motivates me to start working efficiently.
I discovered that working with a company’s corporate communication was what I would like to do because there aren’t as much restrictions than in the public sector and I could be more creative in my job. With this motivation I started my second degree in Advertising and Public Relations specializing in corporate communication and social media. I had the opportunity to work for almost two years at Comsa Emte, an international infrastructures and energy Company, which allowed me to keep growing as a communication professional. I discovered how a big company works and met several people from other countries. I was really motivated to work and proposed different kinds of ideas to improve the communication of the company since the first day I started working there.
I like challenges. Sometimes I can be competitive but I think that it’s necessary to push myself further.
I decided to use what I know in my daily life instead of waiting to use it for a job. Therefore, with my initiative and what I learn from my two degrees and past experience, I created my own online magazine about culture. It started out as a small blog but it is now a website where thousands of international users visit everyday. Silence (www.silenzine.com) is a project I lead with 4 other Spanish bloggers. We talk about cinema, TV shows, cultural events, music, comic books and more. Therefore, I use my knowledge about social media, design, SEO, SEM, etc on a daily basis to improve the website.
Technology is one of my passions, in a sense that I’m always aware of the latest trends because I believe that they allow us to work creatively. The social networks, for example, give us the opportunity to segment our target audience, which I think is vital in any form of communication. With my blog and my previous work experience, I’ve identified the strengths of each social network and make use of them to achieve a maximum promotion.
At the same time thanks to Google Adwords and Facebook Ads campaigns, I’ve improved my techniques to segment my target audience. Nowadays we have a lot of good tools but we have to know the how to use them.
In conclusion, I’m multi-skilled, motivated and passionate.
