My specialty is developing e-learning programs using Flash, AS3, HTML5, PHP, and MySQL. I have my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and started developing e-learning programs in 2008 when I created an online mental health program to teach coping skills to children of divorce as part of my dissertation. Since that time I have made my living working on large e-learning projects with the Faculty at the Penn State and Arizona State University. I harness my expertise in psychology to create e-learning programs that are intuitive, engaging, and effective. I have been using oDesk to help me complete my projects for years and I would like to now expand my work to include managing projects for corporate and non-profit entities outside of academia. What I can offer you is a no-risk, no-hassle, experience as we work together to develop your online learning project. Let me and my experienced team quickly and efficiently make your vision become a reality. I can handle everything that will be needed for your project including script creation, voiceover work, graphic design, web development, and user interface design. I realize (from experience) that it's scary to hire someone without a lot of consumer feedback. Feel free to contact me for references as well as examples of my work and access to my LinkedIn profile and new articles about my work in developing online mental health programs. I will be offering my services at a reduced fee while I build up consumer feedback.
If you need something to be written, particularly something funny or entertaining, I can guarantee it in advance. I work fast and I accept nothing less than my best. I can produce comedy in any form- I write news articles, scripts for sitcoms, films, and short films, websites, etc. I'm also one of the top 5 greatest actors of all-time; most of the voices in that video next to this are mine. There's also a V.O. reel, as well as two editing ones, in my portfolio. I spent two years in Hollywood pursuing comedy writing. In the spring of 2012 I won Best Comedy at the 10th annual DIY Film Festival for a film I made 100% on my own (played every part, was the entire crew). In the past two years, I've published something like 55 videos that've gotten in excess of 20 million views (I've lost track). I do everything for these videos except for the animating. I write the scripts, find the actors, direct them, do my own voice acting (make my wife do voice work, as well), edit the audio, direct my animators (who live in 3rd world countries), edit their animations, and voila- an animation made for a few hundred bucks that 100k people will see in the first month. I wish I didn't have to be a one-man crew (minus the animating), but my standards are too high for amateurs, and professionals are just that- professionals working in the industry (not for freelancers with small, per-episode budgets like me). So, yeah- hire me and whatever it is you need, I'll exceed your expectations. Because if I don't exceed yours, then I haven't met my own. I'm internally motivated- my motivation comes from within. I don't work to get paid, I work to accomplish my goal, which is for my work to blow you away. It's like giving someone a Christmas gift and seeing their eyes light up when they open it- you're like, "yes! Nailed it!" If you get my work and are like, "yeah, this'll do," that's devastating- I want to see those eyes light up and know I nailed it. Oh, and I'm also good at over-explaining stuff. Meaning, I tend to explain more than is necessary to get the point across. In other words, so much explaining that it goes over the amount of explaining that was necessary.
I am the owner/operator of gregpallen.com, a boutique post house in the creative heart of Toronto. For the past decade I have supplied the post for prestigious Fortune 500 organizations such as the Royal Bank of Canada, Rogers Communications and Campbell Canada while also finishing projects locally for such respected institutions as Credit Valley Hospital and SpinMaster Toys. I am currently creating a show open and full broadcast graphics package for a new web-series produced by Yahoo! And Scotiabank is an ongoing client where I supply content for their web presence. Prior to opening gregpallen.com, I was head of production for Young & Rubicam, one of Canadas leading ad agencies. While there, I supplied post on national spots for companies like Ford of Canada and produced a lot of corporate videos promoting everything from events to products. Before that, I was senior editor at the cable network TRIO. I helped rebrand the fledgling station and cut all on-air promos. Their subscription base quadrupled. While at Y&R, I earned a 2003 Marketing Magazine award for a spot I cut for the Documentary Channel. And after a couple of decades in the game, I still love making stuff.
I offer a wide range of skills and credentials to other entrepreneurs and business owners seeking to build and strengthen their online and offline presence. These include, but are not limited to, Writing Web Content, Press Releases, Marketing Material and Video Content. I am a proficient Proofreader, Editor and Writer. My expertise extends to niches such as Education, Human Resources, Pets, Children, Dentistry and more. My educational background is in Secondary Education - English Major. I am a member of the Barefoot Writer's Club and B2B Copywriters.
I've always loved to do a little bit of everything creatively. With years of experience filming, editing, and designing I can take most projects from start to finish. I graduated from Wartburg College in Iowa, double-majoring in Video Production and Public Relations with minors in Graphic Design and Leadership. While I am still young, I've already been fortunate enough to work on projects for DisneyNature, the OWN network, and Las Vegas Cirque Du Soleil show. I approach each project and client with respect and will work until you are completely satisfied.
I'm a professional multi-media journalist who can write, edit, research, produce, and design high-quality content on almost any topic and for any medium. From creating blog and social media posts to complete marketing communications plans, I have worked with clients including university programs, acupuncturists, chefs, commercial painters, e-commerce sites, news sites and forums, and more. I do not compromise my high ethical standards. Sorry, but I do not accept jobs that involve "ghostwriting" without credit, "spinning" and stealing others' copyrighted work, or other shady practices. What you get with me is a passionate, hard-working, detail-oriented, mass communications expert. What you do not get is someone who will rush the job or be a mindless "yes man" -- if I accept a job then I am committing to give you my best work effort, and that includes sometimes offering suggestions or advice -- getting you the final product you NEED, not just the one you think you want. I generally do not do Skype interviews or meetings for any projects paying less than $1,000. I am happy to answer any questions through ODesk or email, and I am happy to do a trial period for any ongoing positions. Sorry, but the reason I choose to do online freelancing is to make my own schedule and work in my pajamas; if you can't deal with that then best of luck finding someone who is a better fit for you.
