I am looking to put my skills to work in creating high quality mobile games for iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, and Nook Color. I was lead developer and manager for multiple apps and games for iOS and Android mobile devices. One of our games is Burst! (http://wickeyware.com/games/burst/). It is a physics based puzzle game written in Objective C on XCode. It uses Box2d as its physics engine. It received over 400,000 downloads on the App Store. Another game is called Jetpack Miner. It was written in LUA within the Corona SDK platform. It was designed to be a huge tile-based world with destructible blocks with realistic physics and also run on nearly all mobile devices. A single game can consist of up to 160,000 tiles in a randomly generated map.(http://wickeyware.com/games/jetpackminer/). We also built apps. One popular app we developed was for keeping track of volleyball stats. It was designed for iPad only so that the entire tracking system could be on one screen and replace a typical score pad. It used a SQL Lite database accessed via Core Data.

I am an English native speaker and writer who has written a large number of novels. For the past two years I have also written a number of short stories as a freelance writer for a gaming company in Florida. In the past seven years I have taught high school Physics (among other things) in both Texas and now Florida. Before that I designed video game with a focus on writing dialogue and storyline. Over the past ten years I have done a number of professional editing jobs that included everything from term papers, memos, and advertisements to full length novels. One thing that drives me as a writer is continual education to improve my writing skills. I have taken a number of writing classes through various media including classes on self-editing. I also maintain a blog that has an established viewership. My goal as a writer is to continue to publish novels, expanding that into a full company that includes multiple authors, video games, movies, and other forms of entertainment and informational media. In the short term, I would like to expand into the freelance market further to help financially facilitate the expansion of that company.
I am a highly-skilled software developer with over 12 years of training and experience in computer science, and 4+ years in mobile app development. My mobile development experience includes Android and iOS, with supporting server functionality implemented in Python with underlying SQL data storage. My experience with Android covers every level of app development, from design to deployment and user support. My academic work earning an M.S. ranged from novel statistical modeling and computer vision techniques to end-user support for experimental tablet applications. I am proficient in a wide variety of programming and scripting languages including Java, C/C++, Objective-C, Python, and Linux/UNIX shell scripting. My largest-scale Android project to date is Quantro, a multiplayer action/puzzle game for which I was the designer and programmer. Quantro has been downloaded by over 20,000 people and has an average Google Play user rating of 4.3 / 5. Quantro features complex multithreaded and networked operation, and its implementation involved a wide range of Android's advanced features, including inter-application communication, threaded and asynchronous event processing, foreground/background services, near-field communication and SMS messaging, etc. While working towards my M.S. I studied machine learning, cognitive modeling, generative models, object recognition, information retrieval, natural language processing and context-based classification. This work led to several applications, including assistive communication apps for iPad used for communicative and behavioral therapy. In addition to designing and implementing these apps, I provided personal support and training to end-users, and developed updates and additional features based on their feedback. I'm eager to put my experience to work on your project. I'm equally comfortable taking the lead on app design and following detailed design specifications and requirements. Thanks for your consideration; I look forward to hearing from you. Education: - M.S., Computer Science, May 2010, GPA 4.0.
