I assist professionals with their writing and design needs. Working through oDesk since June 2011, I have been hired to perform a variety of tasks, including: business writing, academic writing, creating marketing materials, graphic design, GIS mapmaking, and generating Web content. I developed my software and writing abilities through my long academic and professional career. What follows is a series of brief descriptions of this experience:
+ My year-long Capstone project required me to assist IBM by evaluating the design and utility of the company's online data visualization tool. This process involved Web research, Web testing, conducting interviews, writing, and laying out the finished product in InDesign to create a professionally bound report.
+ I spent the better part of four years as a magazine editor for a chemical engineering publication. Here, I honed my craft, not only for technical writing but for blogging, web QA, graphic design, and document design and production. These tasks required mastery of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as familiarity with MS Word, all operating on a Mac platform.
+ Working as a research analyst at Standard and Poor's, I performed web QA on a Gates Foundation-sponsored education data portal for one year.
+ While studying engineering, I interned at an international engineering corporation where I modeled traffic patterns using advanced simulation software, prepared aerial plans using a combination of Photoshop and drafting platforms such as AutoCAD and Microstation, and conducted field research, collecting data firsthand.
