My name is George Chanturia I was born in 1989, July 27. Currently, I work in an NGO - TRANSCEND Georgia that is branch organization of TRANSCEND International that works in the peace/conflict issues (www.transcend.org) I am the executive manager of the organization and I write projects, communicate with donors, represent the organization, and plan activities. Moreover, I also work in an NGO called the "Youth Movement - New Idea." In general we work on the issues associated with the most vulnerable youth in Georgia.
After graduating from school, for two years I studied Business Administration in the Caucasus Academic Centre. That is when I decided to change my profession and went to Malmo, Sweden to study Human Rights and International Relations. There I took lots of courses such as Academic Writing, Human Rights, International Relations, History, Law, and so on. In the end, I have graduated from Human Rights with a degree of Arts and Sciences with a Major in Human Rights. Furthermore, at Malmo University I was in the team of debaters.
Moreover, I did my exchange studies in the United States and studied Political Science there. I also did an internship in Geneva in the Georgian Embassy. Both of these were very interesting and influential for my studies. At the embassy I had a chance to work at the United Nations and do researches there. I have also worked for the Political Movement – Free Georgia – for five months. Basically I was doing administrative job there.
After graduation I started working at the Open Society Georgia Foundation (www.OSGF.ge) as an administrative assistant to the Director of the secretariat. It was a great experience for me since I have developed my skills in presentations, translation, planning, and administrative work.
Besides these, from time to time I work as an interpreter for TMC.
As trainings/courses, I have taken a number courses at UNITAR, these include: “Understanding Conflict and Conflict Analysis,” “Security Sector Reform,” “Economic Report on Africa 2012,” and “Assessing Regional Integration in Africa.” I am planning to take several more courses, too. Moreover, as a job experience, I have also been a coach in Skiing and Football/soccer.
Overall, I am good in writing papers (creative writing, academic writing), political science, human rights, international relations, writing reports, projects, doing researches, translating and administrative work.
