I'm an expert in Clojure and Scala functional programming, and scalable systems. My greater background is in Java development and I have sufficient knowledge of Javascript and web front end programming to be productive. I'm well versed in all stages of application development, from the early planning and pre-planning days on to post release. I'm a big fan of agile and the devops movement, and I love to work in great cross-discipline teams. I've been remote contracting for over a year now, I'm a great communicator and familiar with a wide range of remote collaboration tools. Before this I was an employee at Mind Candy, an entertainment startup based in London, where I was working on Scala and Java development, at first on the Moshi Monsters game and then later leading back end development on the Moshling Rescue mobile and Facebook game. Both titles required efficient, well designed code able to scale to many concurrent users and easily handle times of peak load. Throughout my time at Mind Candy I also acted as a mentor to other members of staff that were coming newly to Scala from a Java background, helping to ease their transition and become fully adept at writing idiomatic functional Scala code. As well as development I've been involved heavily in "developer multiplier" tasks, through such things as adding continuous integration servers, building a deployment pipeline, adding code metrics and other, more manual, things such as code reviews. I'm a big fan of sharing information, presenting what I'm working on and interested in and hearing about the same from others. I can help you with development, system design, choosing a database (SQL and NoSQL) and designing data types, scaling systems, migrating from Java to Clojure or Scala, improving your tooling and build chain, and more. I'm available for long term engagement, or for shorter projects. To find out more about me and my experiences, please check out my resume, personal website, portfolio and GitHub all linked to below.

Dear Client, I have 9 years of experience working in the industry and have developed for the Web as well as native applications. I am what you'd call a full stack developer and I can single-handedly deliver whole projects start to finish. In spite of this, I like the dynamics of working in a team and that's my preference when possible. I'm interested in accepting work in the Clojure language and in the following: Server side development on the JVM (Clojure, Java, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, Storm, Redis, ElasticSearch, Samza). Client side applications in ClojureScript or Javascript (Om, Reagent, ReactJS). I strongly believe in delivering robust, clean and tested code. I am also a technology enthusiast and thus I'm always glad to deliver projects using cutting edge tools like the ones mentioned above.

Build with Clojure. Deploy with Docker.

Russia - Last active: 6 days ago - Tests: 1

I build and deploy performant, highly available and distributed applications utilizing a variety of technologies. I really like to build with Clojure / CojureScript, deploy with Docker and Kubernetes (on CoreOS or Mesos). I also have a good chunk of experience with Scala and Java. My recent experience includes building a Node.js API compatible runtime for embedding in Scala apps (, building a calculation engine in ClojureScript (to be run on Node.js), building a QuickBooks Online application, integration with credit card payment gateways, deployment with Docker and Kubernetes on CoreOS. Background: Programming as a hobby since age 8 (since 1984). Master's in Computer Science in 2000 from Ural State Tech. Professional experience in software engineering: Java and JavaScript since 1999, Python since 2002, Scala since 2008, Clojure / ClojureScript since 2014. Done all kinds of weird stuff in Java like retrotranslating classfiles compiled for Java 5 to 1.4 (for deployment to a legacy IBM WebSphere server), patching existing libraries with AspectJ, code generation with ASM. Built an OSGi based modular app framework and runtime for OSS/BSS apps. After learning Scala became a Functional Programming evangelist at the organizations I worked for. Gradually migrated completely from Java to Scala, from Java EE (Tomcat, JBoss, Glassfish) to lightweight frameworks (Play, Akka).

If you're looking for the cheapest - someone who'll cut corners to save a few minutes' work - you'd better look elsewhere. Types of systems I've been working on (most were covered by NDAs): - ERP systems (for a production line in a factory) - advertising platforms (using AdWords and AdSense) - banking systems ( I learned a lot about accountancy, security and encryption) - MLM platforms - social networks - meta-data distribution platforms - gamification platforms

I started programming at 10 years of age. Since then, I've learned more than 10 programming languages and written more programs than I can count, including desktop applications, web applications, games, utilities, and even some embedded systems (using C/assembly). Currently, my primary language is Ruby, but I'm also very familiar with Java, C, SQL (MySQL and Postgres dialects), Clojure, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, and Common Lisp. You can see some samples of my code at "". You can also see programming-related questions which I have answered at "".

In the past, I have been employed as a Java developer and software tester. More recently, I have been building production applications with Python, .NET, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I also know some Clojure and Common Lisp. I enjoy learning new things, and am constantly honing my skills. I seek software development jobs that will both exercise the skills I already have, as well as help me develop new skills.
