* over 20 years of programming experience * focused on unit testing and test-driven design (the code is not finished until it passes the tests) * wrote a book on TDD available on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/TDD-example-Evaluating-expression-ebook/dp/B005TEN130 * sample code (personal projects) on https://github.com/mdpopescu/public * most experience in back-end C# applications and web applications using ASP.NET MVC with Razor (with some experience in web UI using JQuery) * MS SQL experience, including data modeling and normalization up to third normal form; however, I dislike having complex logic in stored procedures * I strongly prefer working during the 9am to 5pm US East Coast timezone; I have no problem starting work earlier to solve any overnight issues that might have occurred * I love both greenfield development (starting a project from scratch) and brownfield troubleshooting (taking existing software and fixing problems); however, everything I touch gets tests and I don't consider it finished until the tests pass * I have worked for US companies for the last 15 years; I am fluent in English both written and spoken
My IT life is started from dos qbasic and Borland Pascal. A long time I've worked on SaaS project for oil&gas stations. In development and generally in IT I like that nothing happens without reasons. I like to work with people whose interest in process and result. I like to investigate the new technologies and found ways to use one in apps. Now I'm working as CTO in small company. The largest part of my career I'm developing on C# and have a lot of experience in MS SQL. I love perfect clean code because it's art for me. Skills: C#, .Net/Mono, MS SQL, jQuery, Ajax, MVC, mysql, html5, css, bootstrap, less, EntitiyFramework, IoC, Dependency Injection, refactoring/optimization Other Skills: linux, XEN, iptables, exim, dovecot, zimbra, pure-ftpd, strongSwan(IPSECv2), DRBD Source Control: TFS, GIT, SVN, CVS Please feel free to contact me through Skype roman.scherbatyuk. I am available online 4 hours a day. Generally I pretty happy with my job.
No bullshit, no hang ups web solutions development. I absolutely hate wasting time and effort, and I assure you that I won't waste either yours or mine. I take special pride in my work. I've built my skills and career from the absolute scratch, and I've also sat on the client's seat countless times, getting a developer to do what I want them to do. Do you need something done? Believe me when I say that I know how to make this project comfortable for both you and me. This means: > Output is delivered at the right time. No sooner, no later. Let's talk about what you _want_ done, and I will help you lay down whatever _needs_ to be done, in what order and when, to the best of my honest, technical opinion. > Output is delivered at top quality. Everything is well tested, well documented, well thought out. I am very meticulous about the manner and implementation of my work. I insist on showing you how everything falls together, so you yourself know that you're getting a tight seal on everything. > Output is delivered with a smile. Let's have fun. I'm not really one to be all formal and uptight about work. I like to have casual conversations when the opportunity presents itself, and maybe share a beer or two if possible. ---- Anything listed on the technology stacks below, I am completely confident that I can perform for you in top quality. + Node / Express / Angular / jQuery / Mongo / Mocha + HTML 5 / ES 6 / CSS 3 / LESS / SVG + ASP.NET MVC / Web API / Razor / Entity Framework + Wordpress / Ghost Interested in using something else? Let me know anyway; it might just be something I can also do (but I don't main). Either that, or I may be able to refer you to another expert I can recommend. --- Thank you for taking the time to look through my profile. Let's make your next project rock. All the best.

About me in two words: software craftsman. I am always looking for new technologies and new solutions for a known problems. In fact I’ve first started use NoSql databases four years ago. I’ve started from ravendb, than become a huge fun of mongodb. I’ve tried redis, memchaed and read about cassandra and riak. Almost in same time me, and my collegues build our first CQRS based system. Year later we’ve started use CQRS combined with Event Sourcing and continue use it today. I don’t believe in golded grail. Everything changes and I enjoy keeping up to date with new technologies. Technology Radar by Thought Works helps in that a bit. Behind my main proficiency(.net) during last two years I’ve tried and learned node.js and Dropwizard java framework built by Coda Hale from Yammer. I also greatly improved my client side skills and built two single page applications. One is based on backbone (Theranest) and another one is based on angular (Hummingbird). I have one rule when starting new project: “Try something new”. I’ve strongly believe in the open source. Me and few other Paralect founders build open source tool for mongodb management robomongo (http://robomongo.org/). It is widely used around the globe and has between 500 and 3000 download per day. I am StackOverflow'er (http://stackoverflow.com/users/508601/andrew-orsich). I am very proactive and enjoy impact to the future of the project I am working on. I am always analyze a market and trying to come up with better, or improved ideas. My previous customers liked that about me a lot. This passion combined with my intention to learn and apply new technologies helped me to create and run two startups: Theranest and Hummingbird (see more details below) over the last year. Theranest now successful startup which is constrantly growing. Hummingbird just opened for a beta clients. Performance, scalability and big data was most interesting to me over the whole my career. During this year I want to apply my teoretical knowledge of Twitter architecture (batch, serving, real time layers) and make deeper step into Big Data world. I want to try Twitter Storm and Hadoop on a real project. I am comfortable being uncomfortable. Current technology stack is: Server side: ASP.NET MVC 3-4, C#, Signalr, MongoDB, SQL Server, Lucene for full text search, Quartz.net for scheduled tasks, Dependency Injection, NLog. Node.js, express, socket.io, mongodb, etc. Testing: Unit Testing, UI testing with Selenium Client side: BackboneJS / KnockoutJS / AngularJS, RequireJS, Twitter-Bootstrap, jQuery, Mustache, Underscore, etc. Certified mongodb DBA - https://s3.amazonaws.com/edu-cert.10gen.com/downloads/0a986eb852da42d0967db95e132bc44a/Certificate.pdf
