Since graduating with my Master's in Engineering Technology Management in December 2011, on top of a Bachelor's in Computer Science, from the Colorado School of Mines, I've built, upgraded, and maintained web sites and applications for a variety of small and medium-sized clients for a living.
Depending on the day, that work could include Linux systems administration, setting up a development environment on Amazon EC2 or another cloud service, adding complex server- and client-side code to a Joomla form, building an event registration and sign-in system in framework-less PHP, or extending an enterprise material management system built on top of Symfony2, jQuery and Twitter Bootstrap. Plus discussing requirements with clients, both techical and non-technical, to make sure I'm using the right tool to solve the right problem.
I have done some Android development, though it would take a few days to get back up to speed as the last time I touched the platform was OS version 2.2. My educational background exposed me to systems programming in C and C++, as well as Java, Python and Bash (beyond basic terminal commends), though I'm by no means an expert in those languages. I haven't built a project in node.js yet, but like what I see there and will probably do so soon.
I am currently looking for small to medium sized projects on an hourly rate basis. If you are looking for an ongoing contractor relationship, that is possible as well, likely through Cloudy Hills, an on-demand web development firm of which I am part.
