For the past nine years I have had the opportunity to teach 21st century skills to elementary level students and train faculty members how to use software and web-based tools. As an instructional technology specialist and certified educator with a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, I use various software and web-based tools on a daily basis, including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, screencasting tools such as Camtasia, Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Schoology and Moodle as well as other digital tools used for teaching and learning. I am also currently enrolled in a web design class to gain familiarity with HTML, CSS, Photoshop and other tools for web content management and development. I am seeking new opportunities for educational content creation and instructional design as well as projects to which I can apply these technical skills.

Objective: To provide 100% accurate transcriptions of audio/video in a timely manner (the time frame to be decided by the client). I will follow whatever style guide the client selects. My profile hourly rate is per audio/video hour, not per labor hour. I have recently raised my rate from $75 per hour to $100 per hour when comparing what work I typically do to what TranscriptionWing charges for similar work. Using their calculator at http://www.transcriptionwing.com/price.html, for 60 minutes of good quality audio with no accents and identifying speakers, they estimate $107.40 for delivery in 5 business days. Typically I deliver transcripts for audio with foreign accents and audio challenges within one day for 60 minutes of audio. Their estimated price for comparable work is $209.40. So my current rate is quite a bargain especially when you consider that I give specialized attention to every client, tailoring the transcript to their specifications instead of using a standard catch-all format that some companies use. Raising my previous rate of $1.25 per audio minute to my current rate of $1.67 per audio minute is still a bargain compared to CastingWords.com. CastingWords charges $2.50 per minute for a 1 day TAT, $1.50 per minute for a 6 day TAT, and $1.00 per minute as their budget rate. I normally have a 1 day or less TAT for good quality audio/video lengths of up to 2 hours (American accents), as either strict verbatim or slightly edited verbatim, completely proofread, delivered in .doc format. I am willing to negotiate for specific assignments, however. My current AWPM is 97 with 99% accuracy. I currently transcribe at around 4 minutes per audio/video minute for good quality audio/video. I am a perfectionist, and I thrive in work where perfection is highly valued. I am steadily working towards my goal of 260 WPM with 100% accuracy. I want to perfect my transcription skills, meaning to transcribe the final copy of an audio/video in real time. The industry standard is one hour per 15 minutes of audio. So my goal is to transcribe 15 minutes of audio/video in 15 minutes flat, with 100% accuracy (correct formatting, spelling, grammar, punctuation). I am a native speaker of American English and transcribe with American spellings. I use _The Oxford Guide to World English_ to help me with other accents. While working for CastingWords, I transcribed British, Australian, and some other world accents. I am familiar with speakers from India. I can transcribe audio with multiple speakers, as I had done for CastingWords. I have specialized knowledge in the Internet marketing, music, mathematics, and education fields. I also have great knowledge of the King James Version of the Bible. In the near future, I plan to earn a degree in Medical Transcription and earn the title of Certified Medical Transcriptionist. Besides my specialties, I have a wide range of knowledge over many subjects, from sciences to computer technology and video games, and many others. I have good skills in researching unknown terms, and I love to learn new things everyday.

Hello! I am a Librarian at Johns Hopkins University. I work mainly with graduate and doctoral students and faculty assisting them with research, research skills, academic citation, and presentations. I have also maintained a literary blog where I reviewed books and worked with authors and publishers to promote new books. At Johns Hopkins I work with faculty and students in the following areas of study: Business, Education, Biotechnology, Museum Studies, and Engineering. I love working with such a diverse group of subjects as well as high level students because they give me such varied areas to research. No two research questions are ever the same! I became a Librarian because I love to teach, I love to read, and I love to research. I'm an expert at both database research as well as standard internet searches. And you're just as likely to find me running them through my computer as my phone. I'm always one search away from the answer. My love of reading led to maintaining a blog for a number of years. I focused on Young Adult, Romance, and General Fiction books; giving reviews and booktalks for the use of the general public and other librarians. I worked with a number of publishers and authors to promote new book releases. This just goes to show that my undergraduate work in literature found it's way into my semi-professional life. I am looking for work that will complement my work as a librarian. I would love to read, write, or research. I find these tasks fulfilling in both my professional and personal life - and I would love to put my skills to work for you. Computer Skills: • Software (IBM and MAC environments): Microsoft Windows® and Office products, WordPerfect, Photoshop, iLife, iMovie, and various iPad apps. Adept at using Follett and Horizon systems. • Experienced working with Blackboard, LibGuides, ELC, My Backpack, Senior Systems. • Knowledgeable in teaching Internet searching as well as all major Database Platforms. • Expert in creating various Wikis and Blogs; working knowledge of HTML.

Being a qualified English teacher with excellent language skills,I fully understand the significance of well worded and structured write-ups.I am proficient in curriculum writing, proof reading and writing academic papers that require research.Coming from an educational background, as a matter of principle,I do not indulge in plagiarism.
To make it simple, I have a 4 year-long experience in translation & technical writing, a 4-year long experience in teaching and a 6-year long experience in import/export coordination, administration & customer service. In 2005, after working in international environments (I have a degree in Applied Languages & Business) for 4 years in Paris, France, I made the big leap and left Europe for Asia (Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka). First, I worked as a teacher in Malaysa (I have a B.A. in French as a Foreign Language), travelled for a while across India, worked two years as a teacher in Sri Lanka and became a translator for the movie industry namely Bollywood in Mumbai, India. It was unplanned, truly unexpected and very instructive culturally speaking ; in a nutshell, the experience of a lifetime. Back to France since 2009 where I worked first as a teacher and then as a project coordinator, I have been volunteering being a translator for FORUM through the United Nations Volunteer programme. This position helps me to build a real understanding of development issues and improve my skills in translation including identifying and understanding key arguments, building glossaries and developing an eye for detail.
As a former English teacher and now a freelance writer, I enjoy most elements of writing. My experience has taught me how to write on a variety of subjects, although my favorite subjects are education and parenting. I also have a creative side which I use to write children's stories, song parodies and create humorous videos.
