Business Development Consultant with a diversified sales, marketing, online advertising and strategy background. Previous titles and industries include Director of Marketing, Sales Director, Relationship Manager, Product Specialist and Business Development Manager & Director. I also currently serve as Director of Business Development for a company in the online entertainment publisher space. I am a 15 year talent acquisition professional with 10 of those years in corporate side recruiting, 11 of those years spending the majority of my time attracting technical or engineering talent. I have 100 corporate-side positions filled and I have never had a fee paid to a search firm on a position assigned me to in my capacity as a corporate recruiter. Not a single dime. I am an internet and social media sourcing expert as well as a Certified Internet Recruiter. I have located candidates from sources as diverse as internet music sites and dating websites. I have been in talent acquisition or recruiting since I was 19 years old. At 20 years of age I was fortunate enough to find contract work at a company founded by a world-renowned scientist who was beginning to ramp up his engineering staff to develop a device for switching in optical telecommunications networks. I turned that three month contract into becoming employee #22 of the company and was named director of staffing. I hired 38 people for the company through and completed the hiring program for the company's second round of funding. I hired 3 Vice presidents, 6 directors and numerous other individual contributors. Mostly the folks had engineering degrees of diverse disciplines including optical, electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers. Also included were operations, manufacturing, accounting, administration, sales and marketing roles filled. Three years later I joined another company which developed telecommunications devices for optical networks. Here I also completed the hiring program for their current level of funding, this time taking the organization from 46 to 74 people. That company was also acquired. I have also been responsible for hiring dozens of contractors or consultants from the corporate side. With not a single one of them did we pay a search firm. When economic turmoil hit in 2009, I moved over to the transportation industry, which was a little less ravaged from conditions. I was the company GM where we placed independent sales agents and truck drivers with both brokers and carriers in freight transportation. I had complete responsibility for internal staffing, sales, marketing, recruiting and P&L. Most recently I founded my own practice: SpearPoint Search Consultants. This not a recruiting agency, but a talent acquisition consulting company. SpearPoint works with early stage companies to help them key talent in their early stages. We do not do fee based contingent recruiting.
