I have been a using Linux since 1998. I have worked with Red Hat, SuSE, Slackware and Debian. My top choose for myself is openSUSE, but I make my living with RHEL on a daily basis. I have worked in the Computer World for 19 years now, starting out as a Desktop Support and working the last 10 years as a System Administrator mainly with Unix. I am moving to Linux Engineer/Admin. I use Linux day-in and and day-out. Not just as work. I am looking for part time work. I don't do contract work unless it part time. If anyone needs a #nagios consultant please contact me.

I have over fifteen years experience in linux systems administration and development, having managed large environments composed of many thousands of systems. I believe I bring with me a valuable perspective on how to provide solutions for efficiently managing extremely large, and distributed environments without scaling headcount. Some of my accomplishments include having built site reliability/network operations centers from the ground up, from the development of the fault and performance management systems to the management of the staff. I have built up and administered large scale email infrastructures which would send and receive millions of emails daily. I have managed datacenter migration projects consisting of thousands of servers running live services. I have extensive experience in the online gaming industry, focusing on adminsitration, server engineering, and DevOps. I have even worked in a creative capacity as a writer and creative designer in the past, having co-created the MegaTokyo™ intellectual properties. Given the variety of roles I've had in my career, I consider myself a jack-of-all-trades. What I enjoy most is being able to provide value to the organizations that I am able to support, regardless of what role that places me in at the time. For the past couple of years I have been working mostly in cloud-computing, both with government funded non-profits and as an independent consultant. My consulting work consists mostly of helping companies build their apps to be cloud ready, as well as migrating apps into cloud based services, and managing those apps once they are deployed to the cloud. I have lots of experience with AWS and RackSpace and other OpenStack clouds. Much of my work last year was actually implementing and maintaining cloud provider infrastructure based on OpenStack for various government projects. That experience led me to build my own public cloud based on OpenStack with a storage back end based on a ceph cluster for instance, object and volume storage which I am beginning to sell to my consulting clients in addition to other services I provide for them. Prior to my cloud experience I worked as an IT Director and Senior Systems Admin in conventional IT shops and have plenty of experience in datacenter operations, VMWare based virtualization, switching and routing, full ISP operations including large scale deployments in VoIP based on open source technologies. I would love to have an opportunity to meet with you and discuss how we may be able to work together.
