I love to program and I've always been pretty good at it since I was kid and made my first basic program. I've dabbled in a couple of different areas: CGI before the web was cool (mostly in perl); C and systems programming; Ruby on Rails; multithreaded programming; sockets and network progamming; and interpreters. I think my main focus is programming languages themselves and I'm currently planning on returning to school to finish my degree.
For the past five years I've worked with a small business focusing on Weather and Agriculture Decision Support Systems. My responsibilities are primarily in distributing high volumes of data to different projects. Data types are mainly weather based csv, grib/2, netcdf, etc... which are decoded and moved across the network or added to a database. During this time I've gained a great deal of knowledge in many areas relating to SQL, GIS Programming, C/C++ Projects, and Web Development in Perl and PHP. I am interested in projects where I will be learning something new in order to improve my skills in more areas.
