Over the past 10 years I've developed software both professionally, and as a hobby. I enjoy working on more than just my daily grind, so I've come here for a little something extra. Do you have an interesting project? Read on, I may have the skills you need. Let's talk desktop/back-end development: C#, Ruby, Go, C, Objective-C, Powerbuilder, SQL (ANSI/MSSQL), Perl. Those aren't languages I've just spent a few hours on; I've shipped products or currently maintain projects in those languages. How about web development? I love writing responsive, cross-browser/cross-platform sites that work as well on the desktop as they do on your phone or tablet. It's a great challenge to stay ahead of the curve.
Awkward and lifeless copy kills your chance to win new customers. Demand compelling copy. Your competitors do. If you need copy for your website, brochure, press release, or catalog, I will apply what I have learned in 30 years of writing for catalogs, newspapers, and the Internet to your business success. With more than 50 percent repeat customers, I consistently deliver the goods. You know what makes your business special. I will work with you so the world knows too.
I specialize in developing Java web applications, mainly using Spring Framework, JSF and Hibernate. I have over 7 years of experience in this field working on many big and small projects. I feel very comfortable working on complex and demanding projects while still maintaining high standards and quality as well as a bullet-proof code, despite pressing deadlines; I work right the first time, correct own errors, regularly produce accurate, thorough, professional work. I have the ability to break a situation down into smaller pieces to identify its key or underlying issues. It includes not only organizing the parts of a problem systematically and comparing all the aspects of a problem, but also figuring out cause-and-effect relationships (if...then...) that can help solve it. I am able to adapt and be open to new ideas and improvements to products and processes.

I have a degree in Computer Science B.Sc from the university of Manchester and was one of the top of my class in all of the programming courses (Java, C, C++, C with OpenGL) I have worked in the defence industry working on UAVs (aka Drones) and on the Julius Chinook helicopter and both of these were coded in C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. I spent a period of my time working on a legacy system written in Borlund C++ and converting it to a new system using Visual Studio. I also spent a period of time writing C in Eclipse on an embedded system (this was for the JULIUS Chinook project) I am extremely willing to negotiate on price and for English projects the language barrier certainly won't be a problem. I am extremely flexible and am always willing to work late or make additional changes or fixes as and when required. Fixes to problems can certainly be negotiated on price/time wise.
I have over twenty years experience in customer service, Arts administration, teaching, voice-over work, management, creative writing, non-profit work, improvisational comedy and public speaking. I hold two BA degrees, one in Communication Studies and one in Theater Performance, and also a Masters degree in Liberal Studies/Interdisciplinary Studies. Along with my "real world" experience, I have been a director of plays and variety shows for over 20 years, and have directed casts of over 100 people on quite a few occasions. I have strong leadership skills, enjoy helping others reach their goals and an active imagination that I enjoy applying to projects. I have also organized several fund raisers and charitable events. Regardless of the work setting, whether customer service, writing, management or performance, I posess the ability to be creative and have relied upon my ability to think "outside the box" to the benefit of myself and my employers. I also have a strong sense of humor (which goes a long way towards avoiding experiencing or causing stress!). I enjoy researching and am a quick study of disciplines that are new to me. I have, for the last 8 years, also been a privately contracted in-bound phone call service agent. I am comfortable dealing with situations that require discretion, and am detail oriented. Please feel free to contact me about "unusual" jobs as well (legal of course!). Thank you for reading my profile, hope to hear from you!
