I've worked as a freelance writer and editor since 2010, joining a mixture of massive long-term projects and smaller, short-term ones. Whether I'm writing or editing, my goal is the same: deliver clear, concise, appealing copy for my clients. I have experience in an eclectic array of fields—I've written and edited client biographies, e-commerce product descriptions, book manuscripts, and marketing content, as well as articles for topics such as health, food, fashion, home and garden, insurance, financial planning, and more.
I bring an array of skills to my clients' content projects. I excel at breaking down complex topics and making them easily accessible. My command of grammar is impeccable, and I have worked with Chicago and Associated Press styles extensively; I have some experience in APA and MLA as well. Although I am a native U.S. English speaker, I have also done work for Australian and U.K.-based content.
More importantly, my journalism background has taught me how to juggle several tasks at the same time. I can prioritize and complete tasks under tight deadlines without compromising quality. I thrive in team environments where feedback and constant communication are required, but I also love working one-on-one directly with clients to help them realize their visions.
For several projects I have assisted with style guide development and expansion; I've also done quality assurance, ensuring that writers and editors were meeting style and content requirements.
On any project, I take pride in maintaining good relationships with the writers and editors. I've trained writers and editors, and heard many times that they appreciate my thoughtfulness and helpful suggestions. My approach is not just saying "fix this"; I provide guidance and examples so that writers and editors can learn and improve their skills, which in turn benefits my clients because it improves the overall product and reduces editing costs.
