I am a journalist, editor, blogger, film-maker and visual arts practitioner. I’ve written in print and/or online for newspapers and magazines including Vogue, The Independent, Esquire, The Hearing Times, Disability Arts Online and Suite 101 among others. I’ve also edited several publications in print and online, particularly a mini-edition of The Fashion Book published by Phaidon Press, the original edition of which I co-wrote and proofread. For the last ten years I’ve been developing a portfolio career in the arts, five of which was spent managing Salon, a ground-breaking non-for-profit visual art organisation funded by Arts Council England and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. I’ve also led BSL gallery talks across London and the South-East, commissioned and produced arts documentaries, and consulted on new audiences and inclusive marketing in the arts. in 2011 I made my scriptwriting and directorial debut with CODA, a TV drama short that was broadcast on The Community Channel and Film4. It has since gone on to be screened in Wolverhampton, Hong Kong and New Delhi, and was one of 10 shorts selected for competition in the European Film Festival in Miami. In 2009 I branched out into broadcast journalism with The Baby Diaries, a popular six-week video diary strand that explored pregnancy and childhood as part of See Hear (BBC). Today – as a mother-of-two, including a child with multiple disabilities – I extend the parenting theme with my blog, The Mostyn-Thomas Journal (www.themostynthomasjournal.com), and continue to freelance as a journalist.

The years helped me have a better understanding of the English language. (2007-2011)
