I've studied education, beginning with my B.S. degree in Secondary Education, English and Spanish. Since then, I've worked as a teacher and substitute teacher in the public schools, and then later, as teacher and administrator of my own home school, in which I educated and continue to educate my children plus a grandchild. Most have finished high school and moved onto college and productive lives with their own families. I'm still finishing the youngest, and now a grandchild. Within the past six years, I was accepted into and haven been working towards a graduate degree in English within a Liberal Arts University that has included extensive study in writing both academic and creative works, and honing my skills in grammar. I have recently started putting these skills to use in writing, ghost writing, proofreading and editing.
Hello, my name is Gabriele and I just might be the person you are looking for: - I am Bilingual, having been raised in Italy in an English speaking family, and thanks to this, my knowledge of both languages isn't only academic, but deeply rooted as a live and evolving knowledge. - My Classical studies and my BA in Philosophy helped me gain a deep understanding of the structure of written texts, of etymology and of the wide array of nuances and subtleties that good communication requires, and I am able to transfer this knowledge into any text I write, edit or proof read. - My current job as an Editor for an international market leader keeps my attention sharp, and my curiosity constant, also to the benefit of my freelance projects. - I am detail oriented, extremely precise wherever written communication is involved and I proactively work to improve any text I manage within the guidelines I am given.
My fondness for writing has always been grounded in my love of literature. As both a professional and hobbyist writer, I bring a well-honed elegance and versatility to the projects I take on through my attention to detail, and the ability to grasp the style that most suits the project’s needs. Relevant professional experience includes designing copy for large online retailers, where I wrote content on a wide assortment of products – everything from video games to outdoor patio furniture, to seafood meals and bidets. I’ve also researched and written e-mails, brochures, and website copy for clients in the Physical Therapy/Dentistry field. While the majority of my work thus far has been in marketing, SEO, and copywriting my truest passions are fiction and gaming. In my spare time I have worked on designing board games of my own creation, written fiction, developed characters, generated pitches for video games (along with quests and other etcetera), and I have even been fortunate enough to have had paid work writing content for video games and their websites. My goal is to find work in the video game or table-top game industry as a writer, and everything I do up until then is in pursuit of that.
I am a freelance writer, but this wasn't always the case. The skeletons in my closet are packed like sardines. In my early twenties I worked as a club bouncer, I then managed to complete an apprenticeship as an electrician, followed by undertaking university studies in ancient history and psychology. After all that, I was still not happy, so a couple of years ago I decided to become a writer. Join me on my ever-evolving journey to enlightenment. You will find me very approachable and responsive to your concerns. My clients often remark that I respond too quickly and must therefore never sleep. Accusations of insomnia aside, I am here to provide a service, that service is my writing, and it is my writing that sells your products. I could sit here and make cliched copywriter statements, like my writing "sizzles" or "hypnotizes", instead I suggest you see for yourself, check my portfolio. Check out my website too, if you get a chance: http://glenclive.com Copywriting is about knowing what makes people tick. It is, in essence, persuading consumers to purchase products and services. Such a process should not be explicit, people should not be forced to purchase products, often copywriters are overly-aggressive and this can turn potential customers away. Instead a potential client should be gently persuaded by accurate information that makes the product seem desirable and exclusive. If the product has shortcomings, these should be addressed and reframed in a way that paints its shortcoming in a positive light. The potential customer should not be left with any open-ended questions. My role is to gain the customer's trust, predict their questions, their uncertainties, and then address each of these systematically. Depending on the situation, a different "tone" may be adopted for the copywriting, you've probably noticed that I'm writing this paragraph in a professional, academic way, whereas the first two paragraphs were written in a more casual and friendly tone. I don't believe that "hype" copywriting is necessary for the entire sales pitch, it has its place in certain sections, but for the most part needs to be exercised wisely.
