Need help finding the right words or correcting your grammar? If so, I'd love to help. I am a skilled writer, proofreader and editor with a passion for contemporary literature and film. One of my favorite things to do is to help people improve and update old copy and to proofread and edit academic writing, but I am open to all sorts of writing and editing jobs.
Above all, I am a hard-worker and a quick learner with a good eye for detail. I am also quite practiced at meeting hard deadlines and at juggling multiple tasks at once. I would love an opportunity to prove my skills and my work ethic to you. If you'd like to contact me for a position, I check my oDesk messages regularly. Once hired, I prefer email communication over Skype.
I have been active on oDesk since June of 2014. Since then, I have gained numerous skills that make me a good candidate for a variety of writing, editing, and proofreading jobs. Through oDesk, I have proofread sales copy, academic writing, and social media posts. I have also written and edited website copy, press releases, professional emails, blog posts, menu copy, recipes, advertisements, and hundreds of product descriptions.
I also have a strong educational background. I recently graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in English and a certificate in linguistics.
More than anything, my time at Princeton taught me how to read and write effectively; nearly all of my work at Princeton required me to read closely, to think analytically, and to express complex and original ideas in writing. As a senior at Princeton, I was also required to complete a large independent project known as a senior thesis. My thesis, a ninety-six page analysis of evil in the works of Tolkien and Rowling, received a departmental prize for exceptional merit.
Additionally, many of the linguistics courses I took while at Princeton focused on the fundamentals of English syntax. Consequently, I have deeper knowledge than most of the various ways to craft an English sentence. More importantly, my linguistics courses taught me which grammatical constructions are most likely to give rise to ambiguity and to obscure meaning. Thanks to the particular combination of English and linguistics courses I have taken, I am well practiced at analyzing texts for both meaning and clarity.
Princeton is not the only environment in which my academic reading and writing skills have been tested either. In the Summer of 2013 I took a graduate level English course in Oxford, and all of my work was well received even though I was the only undergraduate in my class.
In my spare time I run a blog through WordPress. There, I post movie reviews and analyze various films. I am the sole owner of the blog and all the content there is original. The site is http://www.wordsonfilms.com. Please keep in mind that, if hired to write for you, I can adjust my tone and style according to your needs.
If you have a project that you believe I would be a good fit for, feel free to contact me. Also, if you would like to see samples of a particular type of writing, just let me know. That said, please do not contact me with any jobs that pay less than my current profile rate.
I look forward to working for you!
