I am currently a Developer I at a large online retailer. I support several enterprise applications, most in Web2py and one major application in C# WinForms. I write code in Python and SQL for back-end tools and reporting. I work with Talend Open Studio and Apache ActiveMQ. My goal is to become a better and better programmer, to design tools and solutions that make people's tasks easier, and if possible, more fun. I am CompTIA A+, Security+, and Linux+ certified. I also hold LPIC-1 and SUSE CLA Linux certifications.
I'm Harold, and I develop web applications. The best part about working with me is that I focus on how to best exceed your expectations, way past meeting your needs. I'm extremely good at prototyping new features with modular code with a quick turnaround time. My native language is English. I'm also fluent in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and basic French. I live in Boston, MA. Drop me a line on oDesk; I'd love to provide free insight into what you're working on!
Over the past 10 years I've developed software both professionally, and as a hobby. I enjoy working on more than just my daily grind, so I've come here for a little something extra. Do you have an interesting project? Read on, I may have the skills you need. Let's talk desktop/back-end development: C#, Ruby, Go, C, Objective-C, Powerbuilder, SQL (ANSI/MSSQL), Perl. Those aren't languages I've just spent a few hours on; I've shipped products or currently maintain projects in those languages. How about web development? I love writing responsive, cross-browser/cross-platform sites that work as well on the desktop as they do on your phone or tablet. It's a great challenge to stay ahead of the curve.
I am not currently accepting new work. I enjoy building solid websites "the right way," preferably aimed at modern browsers using modern technologies. My preferred languages and frameworks are Django, Python, HTML, CSS, and jQuery. I am comfortable with MySQL and SQLite databases, and am slowly getting familiar with PostgreSQL. My skills also include linux system administration, bash scripting, and Firefox extensions. I prefer Linux environments for daily use and development. In addition to my linux-based development notebook, I maintain a personal Linux server for various projects. As a frontend developer, I prefer straightforward mockup-to-CSS/HTML conversion jobs, jQuery-based interaction development, and Django template integration. As a backend developer, I can do anything Django. I am not interested in jobs that deal with ASP/ASP.NET or other Windows-only technology. My preferred contact method is email. I am also available via AIM, IRC, GTalk, and Skype (text/voice).
Please visit my portfolio for examples of previous work: http://www.andrewkoumarianos.com . I create, modify and maintain professional websites. I manually code all websites (I do not use programs like Dreamweaver, GoLive, etc unless requested) to ensure that they are optimized to their full potential in speed and universal visibility.
