Programmer, system administrator and designer

Spain - Last active: 6 days ago - Tests: 5

- Quick Bio I was very interested in computers since I was a kid, I started my contact with them using a very old 386 IBM PC running MSDOS. When I was 12 years old I realized computers were not meant only for gaming, so I learned to program in Visual Basic and Borland C, since then, I keep on learning new programming languages one at a time and studying other fields like system administration, network protocols, graphic design, music production and web development. To resume my impressions after many years coding, I can say about me that I fall in love easily with any new challenge and keep working on it until becomes no more a challenge. - Education I finished elementary and secondary school and found no interest on starting University, so I went for the choice of educating myself using books, manuals, papers and practice. This way has given me many success and also many rejections by former potential employers. As I consider myself a honest person, I will not try to impress you with a list of educational centers and dates, but I’m glad to provide you a list of my skills in several fields. - Professional Experience I was working in many different jobs (from construction to commercial) since I’m 17 years old, and started to work professionally with computers at the age of 21. My first job was in a marketing and advertising agency as a graphic designer and web developer. After 1 year working there, I moved to a pure web development company and my main task was to recode a very old CMS system. After almost two years, I moved to Germany and I was hired by a company that works very close to the Swiss tourism web marketing team. My main task here consisted in administering more than 50 virtual machines in amazon ec2 cloud, aside with hundred of web services. Eventually I did backend and frontend development and migrations of ~2GB of relational data to a MongoDB replica set. - Objective I’ve just started my career as a freelance, currently looking for customers that are not afraid of taking technology risks but understand what controlled evolution is, that do not live in a fantasy bubble where technology progress does not exists and are always willing for a better system or product. Those who give me enough freedom to innovate, but surround me with domain knowledge in order to create together nothing less than tailor-made solutions. If you are this kind of customer, we are already in the same wave, and I will be glad to get immediately in contact with you for pushing that project as far as it deserves. -

MS ACCESS/VB Developer

Canada - Last active: 12/17/2014 - Tests: 3

If it's procedural it can be taken care of with fluid programming and if it's data - well, it can be warehoused. I have been programming with Visual Basic and building databases with MS Access for 4 years now. What began as a need for more rows in a spreadsheet led inevitably to complicated import routines designed to parse, validate, and, store data. Well laid out user interfaces came next, allowing even the most inexperienced user to safely navigate the database with no risk of compromise to the data. Finally, heavily customized reports were laid out to put the data to good use. I have designed several databases for a variety of applications primarily within the Mining industry. I feel my strengths are best seen in the design of the user interfaces used to manipulate the applications I design followed closely by data imports and report writing. I've recently branched out to larger database systems, utilizing SQL Server as an access managed back end. When VB isn't enough, I resort to writing utility scripts in Python or DOS based batch files to take care of little chores.
