I have over 5 years of experience in higher education instructional and curriculum design, administrative and technical assistance, community development, and project management, and recently completed my M.A. from Georgetown University. At Georgetown, I served as an assistant to the Learning Design Research Specialist and Director of NSF Science of Learning workshops. Working directly with the Research Specialist, I cultivated my project management skills in coordinating a pilot project partnered with the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) and edX on the use of analytics for personalized learning environments. I also helped design and teach Cyberlearning and Fundamentals of Technology courses. This position has given me experience in engaging in collaborative, interdisciplinary inquiry, designing and adhering to a formal research agenda, synthesizing complex data, leading instructional workshops, evaluating technological solutions, monitoring student achievement and retention data, and working closely with Subject Matter Experts, senior-level administrators, and undergraduate and graduate students. Due to my interest in online learning and academic technology, I pursued a position in Instructional Design at Stevens Institute of Technology. In this role, I assist faculty in migrating and designing courses in our new Learning Management System; this involves evaluating consultation services offered by our department and integrating recommendations into our services. I also lead webinars for our large cohort of online faculty, and work closely with our stakeholders within the online community. Additionally, I have established a campus-wide initiative to build a learner-focused center for teaching and learning with technology, primarily focused on providing online and face-to-face professional development sessions. This has been successful with the academic council and department heads, which illustrates an ability to promote institutional interest in utilizing educational technology for student success.
As a medical field technical writer, I have written Standard Operating Procedures, User Reference documents, various handbooks, manuals, memos, and newsletters, as well as a variety of e-learning courses. I am comfortable using a variety of programs to handle these tasks- Microsoft Office Suite 2007 and 2010, various Adobe programs, and Lectora course development software. I also hold a Masters in Training and Performance Improvement, so I am extremely interested in opportunities to utilize writing for various e-learning projects, such as assisting in the development and writing of content for courses, developing needs assessments, surveys, curriculum development, and any performance and training related projects. In addition, I am working on a PhD program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, so am available for assistance with multicultural/international team building and development, cross-cultural communication, diversity, and performance assessment development as well. In the past several years, I have written courses and documentation for training workshops delivered internationally for non-native English speakers, and have facilitated courses in public speaking, cross-cultural communication, and team building. I have had an opportunity to develop and continue to improve an international workshop through project management, excellent leadership skills, and global understanding. My current work is primarily internal consulting/training delivery/instructional design where I can utilize my ten years of experience in areas of performance assessment, instructional design, and training facilitation. I look forward to using these skills in any way that I can to assist organizations on oDesk.
