Do you need someone to Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE Method) training courses? Do you want to make sure your learners get the most out of those courses, and that you are getting the best result possible for your dollars spent? You need me. I have degrees in marketing (B.Sc.) and education (M.A.), and am a current part time doctoral (Ed.D.) student where my area of research is on maximizing long-term learning outcomes from training programs. This gives me a strong foundation of math, statistics, research methodology, and teaching pedagogy to build on. I have a strong publication and conference presentation history, and I am happy to share my knowledge of learning pedagogy and materials development with anyone. I also have a proven history of materials development, having published more than 20 textbooks used in millions of lessons every year. I have trained thousands of employees in skills such as business communication, regulatory compliance, technology usage, adult learning pedagogy, and even retail sales. I started my teaching career in Japan, and soon became a lecturer at Waseda University. There, I really developed as a teacher and learned firsthand that results-oriented teaching was best. As I got better at teaching and knew more about pedagogy, I started getting hired as a consultant for various companies in Japan. I was able to bring great success to all my projects, and soon was consulting for Global Fortune 500 companies such as Nissan, Nippon Steel, and Teijin Pharmaceuticals. I always approached each client’s situation with open eyes and a solid understanding of how people learn. Years later I was given a chance to lead a massive retraining initiative for a chain of schools in Japan called Gaba, which involved the creation of an entirely new blended learning curriculum, the introduction of the first online learning tools used there, and the training of more than a thousand teachers in how to use these new online tools and materials. This required extensive data collection, assessment, and description. I worked every day with both front-line teachers and senior leadership to achieve the learning outcomes we needed. After two years, the teaching and learning had improved greatly, and the new curriculum was working well. I then decided to return to the USA. Most recently, I was working for the U.S. Department of Defense, developing and presenting employee training in adult learning theory, learning materials development, and eLearning tool usage. There, I created offline and eLearning materials for employee education programs, and worked with subject matter experts to create software usage and regulatory compliance workshops for teachers.

I have a variety of technical skills and enjoy working with small companies looking for one person to provide a range of support. Projects requiring someone who is organized, detail oriented and quality focused are what I excel at. I do short or long term fixed price projects. Long term projects are easier to manage when broken into milestones. Prior to committing to long term projects, I recommend doing a small test job to ensure our work styles are compatible and that I meet your expectations. Currently I provide these services: creating or editing Axure RP files, usability testing, proofreading web content for usefulness as well as grammar, and editing screen capture videos for fixed price jobs only. However, I do welcome inquiries concerning other services. Axure RP - I can create a prototype based on your project brief or edit an existing prototype. I also have experience pointing a domain to AxShare and setting up a branded custom login or password page for your users. Usability Testing - I can provide a recording of my screen as well as audio as I test your website or application. The audio would be me speaking my thoughts, explaining what I am thinking, what I am doing, why I am doing it, if I am confused and other things of that nature. Proofreading Web Content - When proofreading a website I put myself in a new users mindset. If you are looking for someone to not only proofread, but also give you a user experience review with suggestions to improve the usefulness of content and ease of use, please contact me. Screencasts - If you have a need for screencasts or training videos, I can help. I have experience recording the screen, editing the screen capture, editing and syncing audio to video, adding intros and outros, and producing the final video in a variety of formats. I am equipped with software for the Mac and PC including iMovie, GarageBand, ScreenFlow, Audacity and Camtasia Studio. The following listings are not complete. I enjoy challenges and learning new skills. Contact me to see if I would be the right fit for your project. Some of my experience: Axure RP * Simple editing of RP files * Creating RP files to demonstrate common design patterns * Adding custom domains to AxShare * Adding branding to the login or password page for AxShare Testing, QA and QC * Usability test subject * Manual testing * Functional testing * User acceptance testing * Quality assurance procedures to prevent defects * Quality control to identify defects Proofreading and Writing * Proofreading web content for spelling, grammar and usefulness * Technical writing for software documentation and tutorials * Writing technical reports and procedures * Copy editing and writing marketing emails Audio and Video * Screen recording, voice-over and editing tutorial videos * Audio editing and syncing * Video editing * Creating animated GIFs from screen recordings Other * Data analysis * Simple Photoshop editing * Creating email campaigns in MailChimp Some tools I use: * Axure RP * ScreenFlow * Camtasia Studio * iMovie * GarageBand * Audacity * Photoshop * Mac OS X * Windows * Linux (Ubuntu) I enjoy helping others succeed by doing the tasks that allow them to focus on their core business. I value intellectual honesty, equanimity and dispassionate discourse, diversity of perspective, creative collaboration, scientific inquiry, and a healthy, nuanced sense of humor. I value people, not organizations. I draw a lot of diagrams and carry a notebook and whiteboard wherever I go. Given a pot of coffee, or a few pints, and a lot of markers, I'll talk shop for hours. I recently took up juggling just so I can think faster. Incidentally, it's also fun. Some wordier information follows. Since entering networking in 2004, I've had the good fortune of being given unfettered access to a smorgasbord of technologies from numerous vendors in a wide variety of implementations. The gestalt of this practical experience is enhanced pattern recognition, which has proven invaluable when encountering new technologies and unfamiliar systems. I've also developed a fairly unhealthy relationship with the Internet, and for all her vexing inconsistencies and mind-boggling architectural flaws, I always run right back. BGP had me at "Open." I strive always to distill recursive complexity from seemingly inextricable intricacy, reducing special cases to degenerate ones (though, in the wild, an 80% solution is often quite good). I prefer primary research and the considered development of new processes and best practices to the repetitive application of existing ones, and this drives me to automate the tedious bits wherever possible. I'm always in search of new and interesting problems--and new methods with which to solve them. To that end, I spend a great deal of time writing code and studying mathematics, all the while finding new applications to ground the theory. If I stumble upon a particularly recalcitrant problem, I teach everyone I see about it until some vital insight reveals itself or I find someone to instead teach me.
