Bachelor's degree at social work where i wrote several essays in both swedish and english. Where i sat for almost 4 years at the school bench and working together with groups half the time. During that time i read a lot of books about people and the society. Something that came quite natural to me since i have a thirst for knowledge and have an eye for details when it comes to people. I also wrote short movie reviews for the local social work paper during my time at the school. Something i loved to do since i am a huge movie fan and watched atleast 7-10 movies a week during that time. Depending on the load of schoolwork of course. After school was over my interest to writing faded as i got different types of jobs and started a family. Although i am now in process of writing my own novel that just keeps getting larger and larger. It is my dream to finally get it done and then be able to read it over and over. Does not matter much if i get it published or not. I will be happy if i just finish it. As for now i found a new line a work for me and working hard to establish myself as a competent and reliable writer/translator.
Telecommuter for the past 15 years, transcriptionist for the past 10. I do medical and corporate transcription, including focus groups, one-on-one interviews, and physician dictations. I currently have all the computer equipment and software necessary to work from home. My typing speed is 75+ WPM and I am able to understand many ESL accents, particularly Indian.
I am a bilingual speaker of both Russian and Portuguese and am also fluent in English, so I'm looking for translation/transcription jobs in these languages. My field of study is Phonetics/Linguistics, more specifically Speech-Language Pathology. Since there is very little material in Portuguese in my courses, I often work with English text books, articles & other sources of information, thus gaining experience in English-Portuguese translation, and even vice-versa. Since I am cinephile (of sort), I also know a lot of the slang/jargon and particular expressions of these languages.

I speak English as my first language. I do write short articles for one of our daily Newspapers, every once in a while. To be honest, I have only written a blog once http://bewaremadampbureau.blogspot.com/2011/10/beware-of-madam-p-bureau.html inspired by a particularly nasty experience. This has been quoted in several forum. I do write. I am a stickler for well spoken and written English. Spelling mistakes bother me. I am confident that my spoken and written English is top notch.
I am a writer and I write about almost anything. One, I write about the things that I can remarkably do with ease. I can do many things, to be honest. I can sketch and paint and do some sort of old-fashioned calligraphy. I can cook (I'm good at it) and bake and take care of a toddler. I can do little repairs around the house which would otherwise require a handyman. Two, I write about the places I've been to (and the places that I dream of visiting). This is the best part as I love to travel. Three, I write about health and science. I work as an ER Nurse too and I have been around for almost 8 years. Four, I write about planning (for weddings, fundraisers, and the like). I am meticulous and some sort of 'OC' by nature and I like details. I am a wedding planner too. However, I handle only 2-3 weddings per year. If you ask me to write about things that are unfamiliar to me, I'll still take it. I'll just have to do a thorough web research first.
I have experience as an independent contractor for a worldwide, online company. I have worked all aspects of their help desk answering customer questions and directing them to success. I worked as a help desk supervisor, manager, and helped develop two of their departments to help train new staff and provide ongoing training and support for all the staff. Before the end of my term with the above company I developed their Quality Assurance department to be sure that the staff were providing quality answers to customer queries. I type at a rate of 63 WPM with extreme accuracy. I have taken course work in medical transcription using the SUM program. I am very proficient at using google docs and google chrome.

Between the experience I acquired while working directly with publishing companies, and my background in the freelance industry, I've become more than familiar with what constitutes a well edited, well written, or a finely polished final product. The time I've spent working with clients on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, and studying in the United States as well as the United Kingdom, my grasp on the English language, its grammar, and my dedication to sharing my skills with others is thorough.
