I am a Physical Therapist by education and training, and had experience in working in a variety of specialty clinics and hospitals, ranging from pediatrics, stroke, trauma, and others. Then I shifted to working as an associate life underwriter in the largest life insurance company in the Philippines. This work entailed data entry of client information to the database, review of physical documents for completeness of information, and classification of client risk. After 8 months, I transferred to a BPO company catering to one of the largest life insurer in the US. I started as a staff in the new business department. This work entailed thorough review of all imaged documents submitted in terms of completeness of information and correctness of forms. All the information found is checked against the ones inputted in the systems. This work was effectively a quality-review of the work done of the upstream processes. This work also required determining additional requirements and placing the policy in force. After 2 years, I was promoted as a team leader handling 25 staffs, which eventually grew to 38 staffs due to work migrations. Aside from processing, my work included managing the daily operations of the team, making sure that service level agreements with the domestic process owners are consistently achieved. Also, this also required monitoring the productivity, quality, and attendance of all staffs, and conducting coaching sessions as needed. Additionally, I am also given various adhoc reports by my manager such as process summary review, which requires an in-depth monthly review of our process. This is reported to our process directors. To aid me in these, I developed my own Excel files that monitors attendance, daily productivity of each processor and the team, quality of each processor and the team, and projections as to overtime and staffing requirements. I was also part of the company's internal quality audit team that conducted mini-audits in various teams to ensure that the company as a whole is ready for ISO9001 certification.
