My name is Eddi Maevski, I have M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering, with 6 years of experience in mechanical design and product development. Proficient in Solidworks, simulation and FEA. Broad knowledge of manufacturing technologies: machining, milling, sheet metal, welding and general metal works. During my work i've designed parts for injection molding, rim, vacuum forming, extrusion and different types of metal castings. I will provide high quality deliverables in strict schedule and budget for your project success and your satisfaction.
I have a combined graduate-level background in engineering and computer science. As an educator, I have 10+ years of experience in communicating technical information to diverse audiences using a variety of media. I have served as a reviewer for various conferences, as well as journals and a textbook. I have academic publications in topics including artificial intelligence, digital image processing, GoPro Hero cameras, metallography, and online education. I authored one blog as the faculty advisor for a student NASA Orion Mockup project that received special attention from NASA, and I am familiar with a variety of software packages and programming languages.
First thing off: I don't use skype nor ICQ (as they are proprietary closed protocols), but I have jabber. 20 years of experience with almost every flavour of industrial unixen, portable programming (C-99, POSIX, autotools), portable shell programming (POSIX.2) — dealt with many subtleties in different implementations. I work fast, if in doubt, ask for the estimate time. Probably it'll be cheaper than hiring someone with lower rate, but who'll spend several times more hours. I'm honest, reliable and tenacious. If I apply, that means that I'm 100% sure I can do the job meeting my high quality standards. The code must “just work”, elegant and concise. There's too much non-working, ugly and bloated stuff around:( Lifetime warranty for my work (doesn't include new features though). • Automating everything • UNIX system programming including embedded systems • Web scraping and any other text transformations/extractions. • Consulting about UNIX shell scripting (bourne shell, bash, awk, sed, [BE]RE etc). • Anyway, the list is not full, as I have experience ranging from Jenkins CI setups and maintenance to writing parsers with lex/yacc. From IP traffic handling in C++ (libnetfilter_queue plus iptables custom kernel module) to product installers. I use Gentoo and EMACS. PS. oDesk thinks my photo isn't “professional”. Therefore I have none. I'm easily googlable though, and if you want you can find any information about me outside of oDesk.
In the last decade, I've tackled projects (personally and professionally) of all kinds that have used ANSI C, C++, Objective-C, PHP, Ruby and Node.js. Lately, I've mostly been developing web applications with Node.js and PHP, however I've stayed sharp with my Objective-C skills (by developing iOS and Mac apps/jailbreak tweaks for fun). I've also acquired skills of range of dev-ops skills, which include Bash, SQL, NoSQL (Redis, Mongo), Hadoop, AWS, load-balancing. One specialty of mine is also being very familiar with SAP technologies (particularly with writing ABAP applications). And even if something is new to me, I'm not afraid to step out of my comfort zone as I'm eager and willing to learn and acquire new skills. As such, I will tackle any interesting project/opportunity that presents itself.

Hi there! I've been in love with Ruby and Ruby on Rails for a year now and my love towards them continues to grow ;) I've been constantly broadening my skillset, thus, apart from Ruby and Rails, I have experience in HAML/SASS, HTML/DHTML, ANSI C, CSS2 and CSS3, Bootstrap and many more. I can efficiently work alone and in a team. I am seeking opportunities to grow in a bigger Ruby/Rails project.
