I am a college graduate with an AA in journalism looking for ways to supplement my income as well as obtain experience relevant to my eventual publishing career. I am a wordsmith, someone who is able to use words in a way that captivates a reader's mind and brings interest to the subjects about which I write. I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Cuestonian, my college's monthly newspaper, so I have experience in both writing and editing for publication. I was the Managing Editor before that and the Sports Editor before both. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, both fiction and non-fiction. My love of writing has come alongside a love of reading, which is my favorite leisure-time activity. I have an excellent vocabulary, which helps me to edit and write equally in a way that provides information uniquely and without boring regurgitation.
I've spent my entire life building up a knowledge base that would enable me to do everything. Although I haven't accomplished that quite yet, I have been, amongst other things, a teacher, musician, writer, costume designer, director of a non-profit in Chicago, dental assistant, producer, grant writer, opera coach and singer, pianist, assistant carpenter, newspaper arts columnist, antique dealer, computer service tech, researcher, copywriter, bank teller and more. I know too much stuff to just do nothing. If you don't see it listed here, chances are I've done it I am more than simply drawn to the concept of internet work; after a great deal of consideration, I have now decided that it is my future. My objective, within this model, is limitless, because anything that I don't already know about, I'm eager to learn; those things that I do know about, I'm eager to demonstrate my knowledge thereof.
I am a social media marketer that enjoys sky's-the-limit thinking to engage people in a meaningful way. I encourage real strategies, with goals and objectives in order to accurately measure and report on results. It's not always about the number of followers/fans/participants, but the influence you have among the network you build. Any good social media strategist is also passionate about being a good social media participant, and I am always exploring the best ways to connect, whether personally or professionally. Before "social media" was the buzzword, I was integrating community ("new media") functionality to make content more interactive at America Online, where I developed my online content marketing skills. At my most recent position as a consultant with Verizon, I wrote the proposal and requirements documents for - and launched - Verizon's first Twitter account, @HeadlinesVZ, which I also managed on a daily basis. Using best practices (but no budget) I grew the account to over 14,000 clicks per month and to 2500 actively engaged followers. I was also charged with larger-scale social media business cases, such as adding social share tools and comment functionality into Verizon's content. I helped develop the guidelines for not only internal social media advocates, but for employees engaging in social media on their own. I ran social media 101 classes for each new business line that wanted to launch into the social media space. My other passion is for writing great copy, and I have a special flair for Web copy that drives clicks and follows SEO strategies. No matter the media (brochures, print ads, Web ads, etc.) and no matter the topic (travel, current events, brand marketing, etc.) I can make the text sing.
