Translations are often best when completed in a two step process. The first step is a translator whose native language (L1) is the same as the work to be translated (L1) and is fluent in the target language (L2). This person understands the full meaning (L1) and is able to put it to voice in the second language (L2). Then the proofreader / editor enters, whose L1 is the L2. If the target language is English, this is me.
The step one translator does by far more work and deserves the most credit. But the proof reader / editor is as vitally important for a completely professional translation. Native like fluency is extraordinarily hard to accomplish in any language. For a completely professional translation it is almost always necessary to have a native speaker proofread it. HOWEVER, just being a native speaker does not mean that a person knows how to speak or write correctly or professionally. These are three completely different components of language skill.
This is why you need me and not your friend or friend's friend. I am the person who can clean it up and make it sound absolutely professional. I have a good command of many areas of jargon - legal, medical, scientific, business.
I mark all changes in red so you will see every change and deletion. If I have any doubt about the meaning I will contact the translator for clarification, who can contact the writer, if need be. My prices are very reasonable as this is a very flexible side job for me.
I have references from translators who use me regularly as a proofreader / editor. So whether you are the author or the translator, please feel free to consult with me about your project. I would be happy and honored to help.
Thank you, Stacey
P.S. There is one option for eliminating the first translator. I have used Google Chrome's translation machine for a first translation; however, there are always meanings that are hard to understand in this method and there must be someone available to consult about the original meaning.
