I've always thought, that business goals of a company should be the main reason behind everything else. While being an experienced developer myself, I saw many projects fail, because of the wrong priorities, but as a technical expert I couldn't do anything about wrong business decisions made during the planning phase, no matter how skillful I was in my duties. To prevent possible failures, I started contributing my skill and expertise during the earlier phases of development. Soon, I was the one, who actually proposed the ways to compete against rivals and assured, that they were realized correctly. So now, my prime job is business consulting and project management, but I'm still participating in interesting projects to be in touch with all new technologies over there.
