I started my career in electronics while attending high school. I enrolled in a Basic Electronics program at the Vocational Education facility at Frederick Community College in ninth grade. I spent my first five years in the United States Air Force installing, repairing and maintaining Air traffic Control Systems and UHF/VHF/HF radios and the next five years deploying secure mobile communication systems to South West Asia in support of Desert Storm/Shield. I departed the Air Force and worked as an alarm installer for Mosler Inc; installing Card access systems and video systems. I left Mosler and joined Patapsco Designs Inc. I quickly moved up to a Group Leader position within 6 months, where I was the Technical Manager for fifteen technicians in Circuit City’s repair department. I left Patapsco to pursue a career in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID,) where I joined my first startup company. I started at Matrics Inc. as a Lab technician and after six months I was promoted to Sales Engineer and after six more months, to the Senior Field Service Engineer. I was a crucial part of the passive RFID technology to be adopted by the top 100 of the fortune 500 companies. Matrics was sold to Symbol Technologies and I left to help Start up another company. Immediately out of post-secondary school acquired a Oil Field Engineering position. This was a stepping stone to team management. The job was demanding, remote and presented radiation, explosive and pressure dangers at all corners. I changed directions and moved to southern Alberta to a engineering consulting firm, we contracted everything from site plans to safety platform designs for the government. This wasn't fulfilling enough so I took on a key group of clients locally and contracted until job completion. This was a great way to learn customer interactions, sales and brief marketing strategies. An opportunity at a manufacturing plant in Lethbridge opened up and what started as a simple design and drafting position has taken me across the country, facilitating million dollar equipment installations, project leadership opportunities and new product design and release.
