At GCSE I am currently studying: DIDA, Seperate science(moved on to Science A-Level), French and GCSE Media. These GCSEs will help me towards my career, DIDA is a computing course which will give me some of the skills needed in IT. IMedia helps me with publications, french will be helpful as another language will help me to work internationally. I should attain the necessary GCSEs to go to the Bodmin College Sixth Form, which is where I will study A-Level Media and IT Practitioners.
I am a person with good team skills, I developed some of these whilst I was participating in a business enterprise project. This project put us into teams where we would be tasked to create our own food-based businesses, in this project I was the team leader. Being the team leader also helped me develop leadership skills, I was tasked with keeping the rest of the team focused, holding meetings in order to view the progress, and present the project to the judges. The business enterprise helped me to develop team skills such as management and keeping people on task.
In my spare time I do freelance programming work in order to gain experience in the programming industry. This is helping me develop an understanding of how working in the programming industry will be. I also am building up a portfolio of my programming work as I do it, this will help me show to perspective employers that I am skilled and dedicated. I also create websites for people, which is where my knowledge of php and html and css come in. These help me design good looking, functional web pages
I am hoping to go into a computer programming career; I have taken the appropriate steps towards this so far, I have learnt many programming languages that I am now fluent in, for example: PHP, HTML, JAVA, C#, C++, LUA, CSS and JQUERY. Learning all of these programming languages will help me to attain the necessary qualifications to go to university in order to study computer science and computer engineering.I enjoy programming because programming is enjoyable and it helps you gain other skills whilst doing it, ie project management. For example you have to make sure that you keep all of the files somewhere safe and altogether. Also I do freelance work in which I need to keep files secure and in a safe place in order to send them to a client.
I plan to study IT Practitioners at A-Level which is a highly regarded qualification worth 3 A-Levels; This will, when put with the A-Level I hope to be studying Media, give me the required UCAS points to study computer science and computer engineering in university. And these university degrees will allow me to pursue a career in programming.
Outside of school I take time to learn new programming skills, as well as building on ones I already know.
