I have written Perl/Python scripts for about 10 yrs for transliteration, processing domain specific languages, detecting student program similarity, automating web tasks and tests, cleaning up source code repos, sqlite data processing, generating web based reports, processing csv/xls/log/xml files, software packaging, uninstalling programs, prototyping simple web applications etc. I have also helped students and peers with C/Perl/Python/Web Programming. Ask me to do a test task before hire but sorry no homework from school or work left over from office, please.

I studied at the Toulouse School of Economics where I had a strong training in applied econometrics as well as linear algebra and probability theory. I also had the opportunity to be teaching assistant. It was a unique academic environment thanks to excellent professors and motivated students. I particularly enjoyed using statistics to model online markets. I had the chance to directly apply my classes during my internship at the European Commission where I computed the economies of density within a network analysis for the control of the UPS/TNT merger. This exciting experience made me want to discover the other side of the expertise, namely economic consulting. I joined Compass Lexecon, a leader in the field, where I worked on empirical analyses. At that time, the growing importance of energy markets for Compass' business made data treatment a key element of our work. I initiated the automation of this process with a code to update and analyze the data. In addition to this technical experience, I enjoyed very much discovering the complementarity between economists, engineers and lawyers of different experience levels.
I'm an experienced djangonaut with experience building and maintaining applications. I'm very good at taking business requirements or a general use case and translating it into code. Technical requirement specifications are so 1999! Here's how my ideal contract workflow goes: We work in an agile manner, where you create user stories, which describe what needs to be done. I'll ask clarifying questions, and then I'll implement the stories. We'll deploy early and often to a staging site where we can collaborate on any adjustments that need to be made. If you already have other django developers on your project, I'll plug in to the team and use whatever branching strategy the team is using (though if asked, my preference is gitflow.) If you're wanting to build a new app, then rest assured it will be built using best practices so that another django developer can join in and participate without a big tutorial. If you already have a project that follows some semblance of best practice (using a pip requirements file, virtualenvironemnts, etc) then rest assured we won't be spending alot of time on "ramp up". In fact, I don't charge for dev environment setup, checking the code out, getting any dependencies resolved, etc. The clock starts when the productive coding starts (and if that doesn't start on day one, we need to have a discussion about why!) Let's build some apps together!
