I love to program and I've always been pretty good at it since I was kid and made my first basic program. I've dabbled in a couple of different areas: CGI before the web was cool (mostly in perl); C and systems programming; Ruby on Rails; multithreaded programming; sockets and network progamming; and interpreters. I think my main focus is programming languages themselves and I'm currently planning on returning to school to finish my degree.
I have worked as a journalist and editor, both salaried and freelance, for the past 10 years. Most of my work in this and other types of writing has been online. In this time, I have become increasingly aware of the poor quality of writing that permeates much of the Internet. I believe that poorly written content ultimately only hurts the publisher - be it a news agency, email marketer, etc - despite the perceived short-term benefits of contracting cheap articles. My goal is to provide good quality, original content that not only serves to boost search engine rankings, but also engages your readers in a way that turns them into repeat customers.
As a consultant I am always looking for new opportunities and challenging work. I am in hopes that by joining here oDesk will assist me in my endeavor.
