    As a transcriptionist I've been working with transcripts in technical field, economy classes/lectures, teacher/student interviews and I've done several legal transcriptions, as well as medical classes/lectures. My strongest fields are technology, internet marketing, real estate and general discussions. I'm a skilful, pretty fast and accurate typist (85+ wpm) I deliver very good TAT (7 hours for 1 hour of audio, with included proofreading). I pay a lot of attention to research, when it comes to working on some things I'm not that familiar with, unknown subjects so I always strive to get the names and all the spellings correct. I also proof my work before handing it back to my clients. My usual work involves using my default/general template, placing 5-minute timestamps and excluding the usual stuttering, mumbling, repeated words and such. Everything I'm unable to hear for the first time is labeled as inaudible, most of which I can deal with in my second run through the file, proofreading.     I am a French native who's been living in English speaking countries for many years. After completing a college degree, I started doing various translation jobs from English to French and vice versa. I notably worked on the adaptation of scripts for the TV show, The Simpsons, as well as some full length movies (The Simpsons, Yes Man). Benefiting from this experience, I do more than mere translations. I adapt, localize and transcreate texts which means I find equivalences to puns, wordplays, idioms, colloquialisms and cultural references, juggling with words until they sound good to the ear, flowing naturally with style, while keeping the essence, spirit, tone and emotions of the original text. I've worked on all kind of texts, from religious sermons to call-girls descriptions... and even the odd funeral speech. Kids book, work contracts, financial reports, SEO analysis, board games, movie subtitles, user manuals, video games, you name it. And this content was for all kind of media and formats: websites, mobiles apps, DVD, etc. It would be a mistake to think that there is a simple word-for-word equivalence between two given languages, and that translation is a straightforward process. A literal translation doesn't take into consideration many parameters, like the constraints imposed by context, syntax and figures of speech. It is necessary to understand the internal system of a language in order to produce the same effect in both languages, something artifical intelligence can't achieve (not yet at least...) And of course a good translation takes more than good language skills, it also requires research, proofreading and copywriting skills. Some clients seem to be worried that the translator would use an automatic software or Google translate. Well, while I might use a dictionary if I have a doubt about a word, rest assured that I never, ever use any of these tools. It seems pretty obvious but apparently some some people do... I also attach a lot of importance to the communication with my clients, which I think is paramount to the success of a project. I make sure to stay in contact throughout the project and don't hesitate to ask questions if I have a doubt about the context or anything else in order to make sure the translation will be 100% accurate. The speed and rate of the translation can vary significantly depending on the vocabulary register and the semantic and lexical fields.
