I am Ronald Ednalan Jr., a Political Science student at the University of the Philippines Manila. It is my ultimate dream to be a lawyer in the future, if God permits. If not, I look forward to being a part of the local government. I am very much interested in fields such as Indigenous People, Women and Children, Development and Underdevelopment, Society and Processes Movements, Research and Fieldworks, Philippine History, Classical and Contemporary Philippine Literature, Political Behavior, Sociology, Psychology, Ethics and Morality, Public Administration (National and Local Governance), and Constitutional Law. Furthermore, working in the Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) industry from April 2010 to March 2013, I can say that I am well-versed in customer service, financial transactions and collections. Being considered as one of top agents my previous job, I was given supervisory tasks to prepare me for future promotions. I handled schedule monitoring, team management, mentoring, driving compliance and the like. In my years in the academe, I can say that I have good analytic skills in research and writing. Being a campus journalist from elementary to college, I received various and rigorous training in journalism, research and publication. Aside from these, I have been exposed and received proper training in Microsoft applications such as MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Excel and MS Publisher (XP, 2007 and 2010). Being a working student for almost three years (November 2010 to March 2013), I have developed time management skills and priority setting. In between working, sleeping and going to school, I had to have time to study for previous lessons, for upcoming examinations and to finish required papers and readings. Despite all these, I still remained optimistic. I have also developed positive working attitude and good interpersonal skills. I know that everything happens for a reason. I have a dream and I will not stop until I reach that dream. In the process, I may falter but I will remain resilient. All these sum up my work ethics – being responsible to finish every task at hand one step at a time.

My strength for time management and a fantastic work-life balance, which has also allowed me to pursue other interests such as volunteer work in third world countries, is prominent in my ability to study and work full-time simultaneously. One of the key things I can bring to this organisation is my time management and eye for detail regarding policy and procedures. After coaching gymnastics and working in a primary school amongst children with special needs, I am well aware of strict guidelines of the Department of Education and continuously had to integrate these policies with that of the schools. Reporting to parents and teachers, who both often hold the most critical view of my job duties, was a great learning curve and has given me the ability to process and perform above and beyond their desired expectations. Report writing was another large part of my role for the Arts Centre and Geelong Grammar School. I have just returned from volunteering for a third time in the Philippines in Tacloban. I started there in early 2012 on a nutrition project, build a house project and also the orphanage program. Since then I have gone back and helped out each year when I could find the time. This year was particularly difficult as there was a typhoon recently affecting many of the local community members. I hold an Australian and Swiss passport and also speak French. I am well travelled and feel that this allows me to grasp concepts such as homelessness and malnutrition and approach them in multiple ways. Through years of tertiary education, teaching and coaching I have found multiple ways to complete the same tasks and result in fantastic outcomes through many different expressions and forms of engagement.
