As a recent college graduate with a true passion for writing, I hope to enhance my skills and experience through freelance work. I've spent the past four years studying English at Suffolk University in Boston, where I recently graduated Cum laude. I was lucky enough to become an inductee of the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, in which the faculty of the English Department nominates a small number of students each year.
In my time at Suffolk, I worked as a Writing Tutor and English Scholar at The Writing Center. I valued my time working with others on their writing skills, thereby enhancing my own. I met with a total of one hundred fifty unique students and experienced a wide variety of writing styles. I learned to assist other writers with grammar, content, fluency, and organization. Every new student I had the privilege of meeting taught me something new and unexpected about writing and helped me to push my own boundaries as a young writer. I also enjoyed volunteering as a tutor at the Josiah Quincy Elementary School, where I gained an introductory understanding of how literacy and writing skills develop in children.
While I've learned a great deal about the mechanics and conventions of formal writing, I succeed most as a writer when challenged with creative projects. I regularly write short stories and poems, some of which have been published by an on-campus literary magazine called Venture. As I continue to practice my craft each day post-graduation, I look forward to growing into the experienced writer I hope to become.
